Chapter 3
For: J.A'
That rings a bell. I know these initials from somewhere.
"J.A. J.A" I kept repeating the initials.
"Where did I hear this before?" I thought aloud.
My thoughts were interrupted when somebody knocked on the door.
I immediately hid the note inside my coat pocket.
"Come in." I said in a gentle tone.
My secretary came in holding a stack of paperwork.
I sighed in frustration once I saw how tall the paperwork was.
"Sir, the paperwork of Reed Industries." She informed and placed the stack on my desk.
"Thank you, Hailey." I said and tried to force a smile, but failed miserably.
Once she exited the doors, I quickly took out the piece of paper and looked at it one more time before shoving it back into the pocket.
"I'll figure it out later. For now....work." I said with a dull expression.
During work, all I could focus on was the mysterious piece of paper.
Once the clock hit 8pm, I gathered the paperwork, and decided to complete it at home. As expected, all the employees were already gone, just the receptionist was there.
"Make sure to lock up everything." I told her. I heard her say something, but due to the tiredness, I couldn't even make out the words, and I could barely see anything ahead of me. It felt like I was going to collapse any second.
As I drove, my eyes were shutting down. I quickly rubbed my face roughly to avoid the sleep overtaking me.
"Daddy?" Julie called out in a sweet and gentle voice.
I hummed softly in reply, focusing my eyes on the black road.
"You seem really tired." She looked at me with her big curious eyes.
"I do?" I asked her with a soft chuckle, passing short glances at her.
She nodded briskly.
"Well, maybe that's because I am tired." I shrugged slightly, still wearing a smile, while Julie frowned at my answer.
In front of Julie, I never had to act happy, because I was already happy. Just seeing her adorable face and big, dark eyes made me laugh.
She gently placed her small and tiny hand on mine, which was on the gear stick. I switched places, making her hand placed under mine.
I held her hand firmly as I moved the gear stick. Her hand moved with mine as well, this made her laugh.
I looked ahead and smiled sadly at the memory that played in my mind, until I realized something.
"Where am I going?" I clicked my tongue as I realized that I was headed in the wrong direction.
I guess I got distracted.
After another 30 minutes, I reached home. I grabbed the keys from my pocket and unlocked the front door of the mansion.
I threw the keys on the table and went upstairs directly. I was about to take off my coat when I heard the sound of the piece of paper which I placed in the pocket of my coat. I took the paper out gently and stared at it. I noticed the initials.
"What are these?" I raised my voice while looking at the initials
At once, something hit my mind.
"Julie." I warned her once I saw that she wasn't focusing on her homework, in fact, she was writing something on the front page of the book.
"Show it to me." I reached my hand out to her.
She sighed heavily and gave the book to me.
"J.A?" I asked her while staring at the initials.
"Julie Asher." She replied shortly, with a wide grin.
So that's what J.A means. How could I forget something like that? But, whoever wrote this....must know that Julie loves to write her initials. Who is this person?
I started to have my doubts, but then I remembered. Julie is, and will always be my first priority.
I sighed heavily and took out my phone and dialed the number.
