Anticipation
Думки вголос, Цікаве
We find ourselves living in a world where artificial intelligence has subsumed all human consciousness. We let predictions rule our biases and we settled on mundane activities which carry little improvements across civilizations. Exploration is one area which comes to mind. We are certain that for humankind to survive we need to populate other worlds. We have dedicated our modern sciences to this end. The question remains though, will this drive end up exhausting our resources before we are able to do so? What if there too we find no salvation in the vicissitudes. Our resources are dwindling at an alarming rate already, to the point that the only way corporations can assume an alternative mean to survive populations is to keep the world engaged in a simulcrum. To let real resources pass to this endeavor without starving whole countries. And yet a simulated hyper world, where we could explore what could be... or could have been, a collective consciousness is too far from being possible. We are creatures of haste and waste and it might be that in our haste towards a singularity, we eventually decide that the death or destruction of populations is acceptable. War and disease may be ugly but maybe they serve a purpose... The question then is, who gets to survive... Is it us, or our constructs?
