LAZY BUT BRILLIANT BOY
There I was, a smart looking schoolboy with fresh mind and focused. That time I was a junior pupil. I was now in a different environment where people barely knew about my brilliance. That time I was living with Grandfather, he was a 75 yrs old farmer and retired accountant.
Grandfather never liked me because I was lazy according to him. He preferred being a hustler to being brilliant academically. He really cared about making profit from selling his garden crops without spending money on hiring someone to help . The fact that he hated me never made me feel bad but gave me the courage to work at the best of my ability in order to impress him. My efforts were all vain. Despite of him knowing very really well tthat I grew up in a shanty compound where we only had a small field and we were using bulls to cultivate the field and not humans. The only thing I was good at was weeding, planting and harvesting.
Studying in advance helped me to have answers for almost all my school assignments
Whenever our teacher asked a question I already knew the answer and giving me the chance to answer when everyone failed made me feel really brave. I became every girls' desired boyfriend. Classmates began accusing me of being a wizzard by spreading false rumors about me, because my brilliance seemed unique to them. I never paid attention to their senseless accusations, my focus was on one heart's desire to complete school and take my family out of poverty.
I wrote my junior secondary school examinations and came out the best candidate in the whole peri-urban zone, which consisted of four schools. sadly I was denied the chance of becoming the school headboy because I was too quite , quick to hear but slow to speak. I was hurt by that because the person who was chosen for the position of headboy was a notorious boy and her school performance was average. I was glad that his position changed him for good.
