It was in the morning of May 20th.  No one wanted to get up.  Absolutely nobody.  There was a knock on the door.  Knock knock, Knock knock.  Mary reluctantly got out of her bed, and saw a terrible picture: there was a half-dead man near the threshold.  Mary provided first aid to the victim, and called an ambulance.
  Fortunately, the wound was not fatal.  Mary asked what his name was.  He introduced himself: «Does the name John tell you something? To me - nothing. My name is Tom McDowell.»  Mary liked the guy.  They became friends.  Tom stayed to spend the night at her, because, as it turned out, his home was completely robbed, and he was almost killed.
   Tom was very capable.  He was an excellent student at school.  For nine consecutive years.  Mary was also smart, but still not excellent students.  Both of them study at the institutes, but in different.  Mary could not restrain herself and asked: «who almost killed you?»  To this he replied: «I don't know. This is a thing of the past. Let's don't think about it? Don't say about it!»  «I'm sorry», said Mary.
      Two months have passed.  Tom walked over to Mary.  At this time, she was preparing dinner.  He closed her eyes from behind.  She was scared, but did not drop anything.  Tom said, «Mary, I've been with you for three months now.  During this time, I realized that I love you.  This is for you».  He handed her the box.  Mary opened it and saw a ring.  With a gem.
    It came to the wedding.  Is everything ready.  Mary put on a wedding dress, and at this time she received a message: «I am watching you.  The wedding will not take place.  You, at 4 pm, near the fountain, should bring me $ 20,000, otherwise I will kill the groom.  Ha ha ha !!!  I’m waiting.»  She was frightened.  She had no idea who that was.  Mary looked at her watch: noon.  Four hours left.  What to do?
     She called the police and told about all this.  They agreed to help.  The wedding took place.  When it was already three thirty p.m., Mary and the policemen (they dressed in ordinary people so that the criminal would not recognize the police) go out.  Tom was aware of these events, so he changed into ordinary clothes for his own safety, because the criminal said in a letter that he would kill Tom.  They're come to the fountain.  There is a man there.  She realized that it him.  «Give me the money!!!» - the criminal ordered.  And at the time of the transfer of money, the police grabbed him.  He was armed.
    Mary and Tom returned home.  This day was hard.
   Another month passed after the wedding.  Once they had a quarrel.  Mary said: «You are ungrateful!  Do you remember I saved you when you almost died?».  Tom was angry and hit her on the cheek.  «I asked not to remember that day!»  Mary cried.  She did not want such a turn of events.  Yes, she forgot about this promise.  Soon, Tom approached her to apologize for all this.  Mary was afraid that this would all happen again.  They swore that they would not quarrel.
      But it repeated.  Mary could not stand it and left for her mother.  Tom did not know what was happening to him, because they vowed not to quarrel.  He decided to apologize again.  She did not accept it immediately.  She said: «If this happens again, we will divorce.  Point».  Yes, the requirements were great, but they can be fulfilled. 
    They returned to their home.  They sat down at the table, and Tom got a phone call.  It was a father. «Tom, your mother is dead», father said on the other end of the wire.  Tom laid his phone with trembling hands, told his wife.  It was very sad.
      There were a lot of people at the funeral.  Everyone loved Mrs. McDowell.  She was a librarian.  Everyone loved her.  She could always pick a book to taste.  But, alas, she died.  Now Tom has a father and a wife.  Because of this, he tried not to quarrel, so as not to lose loved ones.
