The alarm wakes me up and I hurry to get ready. I put on a cute halter top and ripped skinny jeans that complements my figure and start with the assessories. I leave the jewelry that Max bought me on and put on some cute high heels. I curl my hair and do my make up, accentuating my eyes and lips. I grab a matching purse and fill it with money and any thing else I need and make my way down after grabbing my backpack.
Turns out my roommate moved away so I pretty much have the house to myself. I grab an apple and head on outside where Max was waiting for me. When he sees me he lets out a whistle as I walk over and hug him. "Like what you see?" I ask him and he leans down and places a kiss on my cheek. He respects the fact that I want to take it slow. Hes a few inches taller than me, which just adds more points in his favor.
Evan is heading out the door as Max is helping me into the car and he stops and stares at me, leaving me to think that im looking fine as fuck today. "What the hell are you looking at, asshole?" I ask him as Max and I drive off. We stop by Starbucks and Max buys us both a macchiato. I sip contentley as he blasts Cardi B through the speakers, pulling into the school parking lot. He turns the key, killing the engine and he rushed over to my side to open my door. As usual, all eyes are on me as I get out. "Do they usually stare this much?" I ask. Max shakes his head no as we walk over to the break area.
"Evan must be up to something." Max remarked as we settle down into some seats. "All high school students head to the auditorium" the speakers crackle and Max grabs my hand as we both walk towards the big building. Everyone is staring ar us and whispering, turning their heads away when I look in their direction.
We sit down on a set of bleachers closest to the door and the principal announces that we will have block schedule from now on. Meaning we wont have but five classes. He passes out the edited class schedules and releases us as the first bell rings. "We have all of the same classes." Max says as he studies the schedules. I smile, glad something is going my way today. Since it is our first day as block schedule the teachers let us have the day off so that they can prepare their planners. Evan sits in front of me, ignoring me which is fine.
Max and I spend the first two classes watching comedies. When lunch arrives I grab my purse and Max and I head out. "Do you want to eat inside or out?" Max asks. "Hmmm. How about outside." I say and he smiles, showing that was what he was planning. We enter the lunchroom and everyone stops talking.
"Why dont you sit down while I get our plates. Dr Pepper, right?" He asks and I nod in consent. I sit down at the table closest to the door and pull out phone, acting like I was checking it out while I was checking out everyones thoughts.
"I cant believe theyd let a homeless girl go here. Looks like she's atratched herself to Max." One girl thinks. "I heard that the queen didnt want her because she was caught with a servant." Another thought. "I heard that she accused of some high prince of raping her best friend. I bet shes just a drug addict." I can't take it. I stand up as Max arrives and we head outside and sit down underneath a group of trees. We get half way through our meals when Amanda walks over dragging Evan. "What now?" I mumble underneath my breath.
"What are they doing letting a white trash homeless slut go to a prestegious school like this. No wonder the queen didn't want you. No wonder your adoptive parents beat you." Amanda says, a slow grin enveloping her face. A flashback hits me, making me drop my drink.
"Daddy please dont hit me. Ill be good." My ten year old self says as my father punches me in the stomach, knocking the breath out of me. "You are nothing. Youre no daughter of mine!" He yells as he kicks me, cutting the back of my hand and crushing my pinky. I scream as the pain rolls over me. "LEAVE HER ALONE DANIEL!" My mother yells as she rushes over. He swings his hand back and it connects with her cheek, sending her flying. "You.... Whore! She isnt my daughter!" He yells as he kicks me again, breaking my rib. "Noooo! Daddy nooo!" I scream. He leave mom and I on the ground and gets in his car, driving away. I'm covered in lacerations, blood pours out of my mouth as I struggle to get up. "My baby!" My mother weeps as she crawls over. "You need to leave. Pack a bag and run away before he kills you. Here take this." She says, sobbing as she hands me all the money in daddys wallet. "Dont worry about me baby." She says giving me one last hug before she walks over to the gun cabinet and pulls out a shot gun. After loading it she turns to me and mouth the words I'm sorry. Then she puts the gun in her mouth and pulls the trigger.
I'm yanked back to reality by Max yelling my name. "You somehow projected the memory to Evan and I." He says and I look over to see Evan on the ground. I break free of Maxs' arms. "I have to go somewhere. When I'm ready ill let you know." I tell him and them run off. Evan pops up off the ground and the two brothers yell my name. "She doent need to be alone!" Evan yells and Max hold him back. "This is your fault." Max replies and walks away.
