Chapter 1
"Everyone today we have a new student," Mr. Louis started, he was clearly not happy with the fact he had to deal with more teenagers. His ever increasing wrinkles were more vivid as he scrunched his eyebrows in frustration. "His name is Timothy Granger, he's from Florida. In summary be nice to him." He gestured for the person by the door; hidden from our view, to come forward.
At first when you looked at him you didn't really see anything special, murky brown hair, dull blue eyes and a significant frown. However when you looked at him like I did, you didn't just see a boy, you saw a mystery. A slightly weird thought because I wasn't one to really look at people.
"You can sit where ever is free," Mr Louis grumbled. Timothy seemed to careless, he trudged his way to the back seats, far from where I was sitted. The front row was always my go to seat, call it a good girl habit or whatever, honestly I just enjoyed seeing the board clearly and hearing the teacher better.
"And so the Romans--"

"Hey April did you see the new guy?" Valerie questioned as we walked to the cafeteria.
"Yeah, he's in my history class." I shrugged. We stopped by my locker so I could drop my books. Valerie leaned against the locker next to mine as I dropped my books into my locker.
"He's nothing special but he looks more than meets the eye. I got this vibe from him that he has a lot of baggage."
I nodded in agreement, "Yeah me too, he's actually pretty cute to me though. I don't know, I have thing for brunettes." I chortled, Valerie rolled her eyes, "no, you have a thing for complicated guys."
"No I don't! I simply don't like simple people." I closed my locker.
"You mean people like you?" She laughed, her hazel eyes glistening. I scowled then nudged her as we walked to the cafeteria.
"Hey, one of us has to be the boring one in the relationship, my role is vital. I keep the relationship steady." I smirked triumphantly.
"In other words you're a buzz kill." Valerie chuckled and I rolled my eyes. She obviously didn't understand the role of the boring ones in a relationship, I brought peace and prevented consequences. Valerie on the other hand was the wild one, she brought prospective harm and occasional fun.
"Anyways I'm so happy Kylie's sick and not in school. That girl is such a pain in the ass," Valerie confessed. I nodded in agreement. Everyone was happy Kylie was sick. She wasn't your typical mean girl, yes she was rich and unnecessarily evil, however everyone clearly despised her. A reason she didn't have friends, or even the required minions, nope, everyone hated Kylie, or boomerang in Australia.
"She's so mean for no reason," I grumbled.
We finally reached the cafeteria, lining up we continued to chat about reasons we disliked Kylie.
"Hey ladies mind if I cut?" Jasper asked, his arrogance radiating off him. Valerie and I rolled our eyes and gestured for him to cut.
"So you guys hear about the new kid. Heard he was in juvie before for drugs," Jasper whispered, his eyes darting around to make sure no one else was listening. I was sure he already told the whole school. Jasper Knight was our high school's own gossip king, from his vibrant green eyes to his blonde hair, he was clearly attractive but his big mouth was such a huge turn off.
"Wow, he just got here and you guys are already spreading rumors. What is wrong with people," I grumbled in annoyance, honestly high school students irritated me, their judgy stares and unbelievable rumours were beyond aggravating.
"Chill, you don't have to be such a good girl," Jasper scoffed and turned to gossip with someone else. He said the word that made me go insane, 'good girl'. I was enraged, Valerie immediately started whispering, "He's not worth it. Save your anger for your dreams, where you can actually beat him up." I forced a smile, Valerie was the ying to my yang, if we were both lesbians we would've been married.
"I really hate it when people call me that. Can't a girl get good grades, be nice, donate to charity, help the elderly, wear plaid skirts and sweaters, be a virgin and not be labelled as a good girl. Honestly I'm sick of it. Why can't I be known as April the normal girl, that would be less annoying," I ranted as we got our food and walked to our table. Valerie chuckled, "Yeah, people saying why do you have to be such a normal girl, sounds right."
I rolled my eyes as we sat on our table. "It's just awfully stereotypical."
"Enough about you, look the new kid is sitting alone." She pointed her head towards Timothy, who was in fact sitting alone, frowning as usual. Aargh! I just wanted to smoothen out his face, it was like an itch I couldn't scratch.
"Lets say hi." I grinned.
"You're doing that, dare I say." She looked at me with caution, "Good girl thing."
I rolled my eyes for nth time, "Watch your mouth lady, would it be so hard to just invite him over here. Put yourself in his shoes, all sad and alone, no friends, just staring into the sky and having to listening to useless chatter." She hit her hand on her forehead in frustration.
"Your empathetic speeches are so annoying, yet so motivating." She groaned. I chuckled lightly, sipping my sprite. I was known to influence good in others.
"Lets go," I said excitedly.
"Fine, but know that you are living up to your good girl label. Inviting the new kid to your table is a known classic."
"Yeah, yeah, lets go grumpy." I dragged her off our table and towards Timothy's, where an unpredictable enigma awaited us.
