"Take this, this and this.” Gordon handed Zac a bunch of cleaning supplies that consisted of a broom, a mop and a bucket.
“Anything else?” Zac asked sarcastically.
“Yeah, don’t talk to the seniors here.” Gordon mentioned while whispering.
“And why is that? It’s because I’m an orphan?” Zac asked in a sarcastic tone while chuckling.
“Yup! You got it!” Gordon laughed hard again, while exiting the storage room.
“Oh! I almost forgot! Take care of the boss man’s office, will ya’?” And with that, he left.

Zac threw his broom to the floor, annoyed and irritated.
“I’m not going back into that devil’s offic-” Zac was cut off when the door opened once again.
“Your wastin’ time, newbie.” Gordon informed, rather loudly.

Zac quickly changed his mood and plastered a fake smile. Gordon’s eyes travelled to the broom that was on the ground.
“O-oh! Don’t know how that got there!” Zac chuckled nervously as he picked up his broom and rushed outside before Gordon could get a chance to say something.

“Hey, did you hear? The chief hired an orphan.” Zac heard a voice as he walked across the halls that lead to Christopher’s office.
“Yeah. Good thing he’s only a janitor.” Both men barked into laughter as Zac gritted his teeth, trying his best not to interfere.

He finally reached Christopher’s door and knocked gently.

“Sir? Um…I’m here to clean your office.” Zac face palmed himself, wondering why he sounded so dumb. No voice was heard from inside. Zac knocked once again, but still no response. He let himself in and when he saw that no one is in the room, he became happy.

“Finally.” Zac sighed in relief. He entered quickly and started cleaning Christopher’s office.
He was almost finished when the door opened up from behind him.

Zac gulped and slowly turned back to see Christopher Thorn standing at the door.
“Oh, so you’re here too. What was your name again?” Christopher asked casually, while walking towards his desk. His eyes remained on the papers that were scattered everywhere on the surface.
‘This is a joke right? He already forgot my name! It hasn’t even been three hours!’ Zac screamed mentally.
“Zac, sir. Zac Mason.” Zac snapped, irritation was palpable in his voice.
Christopher noticed his irritation and stared at him with deadly eyes that were filled with warning.
Zac looked away. He couldn’t stand being here! His anger reached to its peaks.

“I should go.” Zac said before he could yell his problems to Christopher.
Zac quickly tried to escape, as he reached the door.
“Wait.” Christopher said from behind him. Zac sighed heavily, but turned to look at him.

“You didn’t clean my desk, yet.” Christopher said with a light smirk.
‘Is he in his right state of mind!? Does he not see what I’m going through!?’ Zac yelled inside, and clenched his jaw and fists.

“Yes sir.” Zac walked towards Christopher’s desk and placed the papers neatly and in the correct order. While cleaning his desk, Zac stared at Christopher’s hands, or more specifically, his knuckles. They were covered in blood and scratches.
He decided not to question about them. After all, he is a detective, he may be interrogating someone to get information out of them. After cleaning the desk, Zac sighed in exhaustion.
“May I leave now, sir?” Zac asked quietly, trying his best to control his anger.

“Yes, you may.” Christopher said in a solemn voice.
Zac rushed to the door and exited in a hurry.

The day went by slowly, and all the people started to leave one by one. Even Gordon left. Zac was the only one in the whole building. He was done with his work and looked at the time. It was already midnight. Exactly 12:00 AM.
Zac placed his things back in the storage room and the security guard locked the doors to the main entrance of the building. Zac sighed heavily and walked all the way to his apartment. He barely sees Lonny while at work, maybe because both of them had a lot of work to do.

He entered the apartment using his keys and it was all dark. He assumed that everybody was already asleep.
He glanced at the dining table where they all had their meals.
"Oh, how I miss having meals with my family." He whispered to himself with a sad smile.

He walked towards the fridge with a note on it. He peeled it off gently and recognized the scribbled writing immediately.

Zac chuckled at the note.
'Corns and peas in the fridge. Hope you like them, I made them especially for you!' :)
-Henry

Zac took the corns and peas out of the fridge and warmed them up. He took a bite of it, and immediately spit it all out.
"Oh my god! What is this?!" He yelled in a quiet voice and covered his mouth with disgust displayed upon his face.
He walked back to the fridge to put it back, but he stopped.

"Wait. If I place it back in the fridge, Henry would know that I didn't eat his dish. He would be heartbroken..." Zac looked around and walked towards the apartment door. Outside the building, he noticed a puppy that was there before as well. He placed the corns and peas on the ground and the puppy ran towards to eat it.

"Well, enjoy." Zac chuckled.
He went back to his apartment and placed the dishes in the sink. It was already 1:16 AM.
Zac took a shower and layed on his mattress next to Henry. Zac couldn't keep his eyes open and before he knew it, he was already out.
