Fox tried to say it was so not true, but I could totally see it. When I was little, i imagined him and Prim would be a thing, but at that same time Prim thought that i and him were a thing and "didnt want to intrude upon either of our love lives".
Lo behold, we were both wrong. Turns out Fox had a different taste in gender, and our tiny idiodic ten year old brains couldn't understand that. Okay, not that big of a surprise.
I feel like Fox is one of those people that secretly narrates their life on paper or something. If he did that, I'd pay so much to read it. So. Much.
I know he gets the belt from his dad or something and his little sister does too, even though she's like six. But I had never thought his life would be bad or crazy or anything vaguely related to that, for that matter. He would surely tell me, right?
I guess so.
I'm over at his house now, reading one of his latest stories. Fox likes to write, but he always writes about he and Teja. I wonder if his writing is like about his real experiences. This one is about how he has to leave Teja soon, puzzle pieces, and how his mother beats him.
"What's Ten Units?"
I can't help but ask this question. I am more of a speaker than a question asker, but sometimes it's gotta be done. Fox is just quiet, but I know he wants to give people less to worry about. He told me once.
"Oh. It's.. It's the city that FOP and Teja live in." He stutters sometimes when he talks, like he's some kind of nervous or something.
"What's FOP?"
"Fox On Parchment."
"Oh. Cool. What if um, FOP and Teja went on some adventure and battled an amazing cave monster. Or like, a dragon?" I suggest. If Fox hates my suggestions, he hasn't let on.
"I could add that in, I guess-I mean, it's a good idea."
I'm kicking the wooden column that supports the roof of Fox's house. Paint peeling, that poor column is just trying it's best to support his roof and shade the porch that we're sitting on now, but it suffers from abuse from when I kick it for fun and for when fox is mad and kicks it.
I have no idea what fox is like when he's mad (or showing any other emotions besides happy, nervous, and afraid), but I swear that column is about to collapse.
"Have you seen my 3DS, Fox?" Teja looks upset as she scampers out onto the porch, her shoulder length hair a gigantic mess as usual. Her expression darkens when she sees me.
Alright, truth be told, Teja is NOT the calm, innocent angelic eight year old Fox wrote about in his FOP stories. She is still eight and still very cute, but she hates anyone that will not do her bidding. Apparently Fox just does whatever she pleases because he's afraid of his little sister or some crap. Maybe he's just nice.
I think he's just nice, because for some reason she is attached to him whenever she can be.
"Mom, uh, hid it," Fox says.
"Whyy??" Teja doesn't even have the decency to look like she knows why. I swear to actual God, that girl is plainly obsessed with the Star Wars game she has on her 3DS.
"You're spending too much time on it, that's why," I add in, and I swear if Teja's eyes could throw knives i would be impaled right now.
Okay, so i guess I'll explain. As it turns out, strawberry shortcake dolls do not react positively to being thrown into fireplaces. Long story short, I became personal enemies with Fox's tiny evil sister and she would do anything in the world to make my life a literal hell on earth.
Anyways, Teja got a 3DS at the Bartlett's next family Christmas- but the incident was not forgotten by Teja and I'm pretty sure she'll never forget, which makes me a little scared to be completely honest.
"Fine." Teja sniffs and fastballs me another signature death-glare before stomping back into Fox's house.
"You know that guy Prim totally likes?" Iask Fox, knowing this will annoy him so much. "Do you think he's cute?"
"Stop it, Lilah," Fox manages, but he's smiling.
