Chapter 7
The wedding date was set for the day of Moira’s 21st birthday, her coming of age.
The kingdoms rejoiced.
The age of separation would be over.
The day heralded the start of a new era, in which all people and places, could live and work in perfect balance and harmony.  With the marriage of the prince and princess, all of the kingdoms would be united.  Their ascension to the thrones would bind the lands together permanently, becoming one great nation.  With Moira’s abilities growing stronger and more lasting with every passing day, many of the citizens entertained the notion that the very weather that divided the kingdoms, would one day become irrelevant and they would become more unified than ever.
The kingdom would be perfect.

From some dark recess of the world, the daemon re-emerged.
It had grown restless, waiting for the kingdoms to tear themselves apart, and wished to inspect the damage it had caused.  By now, surely the lands were almost ready to be reaped of the corrupt people that occupied them.
The world into which it arrived was wrong.
Its fury was not something that can be described with any words that exist.
Its anger would not be contained.
A small village lay close to where it appeared, sheltered deep in the mountains.  It served as a home to a community of coal miners and their families.
The terror and pain that fell upon these innocent people that night, should never be repeated lightly.
The following morning was seen by only a few surviving souls, those that the daemon had enlisted to do its bidding.
Through cruel and sly methods, the daemon learned the details of the redemption of the present rulers, the upcoming nuptials of their offspring and even the supernatural abilities of the bridal princess.
It immediately recognized the origins of these powers, which only enraged it further.  There was no way to destroy Mother Nature.  She was a force, not a physical being, as much a part of the world as the wind or the waves, and just as pointless to attempt to destroy.
Taking revenge against her, however, was a perfectly attainable goal.
There was little time in which to act, yet a terrible scheme was all too easily present in its mind.
It dispersed its newly acquired minions into the kingdoms as bandits, pirates and fear mongers.
Then it turned its attention towards the Monarchs, taking it upon itself to target the heart of Hope.
In its possession was a stone capable of holding energy.  It was the only item, save the clothes on its back, that it carried as it entered the city.
Disguising itself as various towns people, servants and courtiers, it learnt of the habits and routines of the royal families.
It listened and learned and waited.
