Epilogue: Here's To The Future
Epilogue: Here's To The Future
Nearly 2 months after our little adventure, a lot of things have changed, for the better. Me and April have officially started dating, and we actually watched that Bond movie! Not to mention that my mom's reaction when she met April was simply embarrassing... She said and I quote "Are you sure you want my son as YOUR boyfriend!?" I literally thought she'd drive her away with her nonsense, but luckily everything worked out great. Talking about April, she talked out the issues she had with her mom and she can finally act like herself, although her mannerism she had learned still resurfaces from time to time. What that's saying, old habits die hard?

Leaving that aside, me, Max, Anette and April as well as Sarah (occasionally) began hanging out. Having skipped through the awkward phase during our time at the hell-school, we began having fun and talking freely to each other pretty quickly. Of course, as I began to socialize at school, I made some guy friends as well, and guess what? We're gaming online together!

Lastly and most importantly, we informed the authorities of the incident that occurred during the days we were missing, also mentioning the late students who disappeared years ago, but as it turns out, they had no record of their disappearance. In fact, they told us there were never citizens of Kirkwalle that went by those names, and brushed us off telling us to "go play our pranks elsewhere...". Incidentally we concluded that whoever died inside the school, was completely forgotten within several days. That conclusion came from the fact that no one in the school remembered either Liam, Chloe or Chris. But not only will we remember them, but we've dug up a memorial for them too. We'll never forget the ones we lost during our time in the cursed version of our school... We also made a memorial for Nora and all the other students who died during the curse. Lastly, we made one final memorial, for the one who cast the curse in the first place... Emily. After talking it out with everyone, we decided she was just another victim, just like everyone else.

Eventually we decided to attend to the same school normally, since the authorities never believed us and, of course, since the curse appears to be broken for good.

"So you sure wanna watch that movie tonight?" I say taking a sip of my coffee, as I lean back on the chair inside the coffee-shop. "Yeah I mean why not?" April replies imitating me. "Ahh dunno it sounds kinda weird honestly..." I state with a shrug. "What why? What's weird about a fisherman falling in love with a mermaid?" She says while I shrug a second time. "I don't know, isn't the fisherman's job to catch fish? Like, imagine someone who sells ice cream, fell in love with an ice cream cone." I say with a straight face as April almost chokes on her coffee. "I can't believe I thought you were actually serious for a moment..." She says with a smile as she shakes her head. "I'd watch that movie though!" Max comments while hopping on the chair next to April, with a coffee and her bag at hand. "The one with the fisherman or with the ice cream cone?" I inquire and she taps her chin. "Hmmmm... the one with the ice cream cone sounds a lot more interesting actually..." Max replies in an attempt to tease April. "Come on!" the latter cries out with a chuckle. "Hey guys sorry I'm late! I don't understand how to text someone in this devil-device!" Anette joins in right after she enters the coffee-shop. "By devil-device you mean your new mobile phone?" Max tilts her head to the side. "...The one we got you as a birthday gift, you mean?" April imitates the girl sitting next to her and I burst out laughing. "You'll get the hang of it soon enough." I reassure Anette and she smiles sheepishly.

After Sarah joins us, we hang out for a bit more time before we all decide to head to school for our next class, since the ones we had early in the morning were cancelled. As the four of them walk altogether in front of me, and chat away, my lips instinctively form a smile. I'm so happy I got to meet all of them... Dark circumstances brought us together, but we made it out alive by helping and protecting one another. I don't know what the future holds, or where our lives will take each one of us but I know that, As long as I have friends like these, everything will be just fine...

As I think to myself, I notice that April is standing next to me, while the others have paused and have turned towards my direction. "Contemplating your life choices?" My girlfriend asks, and I smile in response. "Yep, and I couldn't be happier about them!" I voice and she chuckles, while grabbing hold of my hand as our fingers intertwine. "Yeah I love you too." She states with a wink and we begin walking towards the others. "Come on you guys!" "What's the hold up?!" Max and Sarah call out to us while Anette gives us a small smile right before we join them.

My name was Jack Carter, and that was my story... And before I sign off once and for all, I want to admit something... I actually am a major Titanic fan!

Thank you so much for reading 66 Hours, and I hope you enjoyed it! Special thanks to all my friends who never failed to hype me up and give me feedback on the story! As for you my fellow readers, I hope I made you cry, laugh and blush altogether with the adventures of Jack Carter and his friends inside the murderous school! I personally had a lot of fun writing this book and Jack will always be a character I'll keep close to my heart, not only because he was the first first-person narration I did, but because he's a cool character to boot. At the end, he got the girl, he got his life back and of course gained some trustworthy friends along the way. So that was me my fellow readers, again I hope you enjoyed it and I wish you happy reading endeavors!
