Chapter Four
Once the ambulances come and load the girl up, I carefully follow them out and onto the expressway. The symbol on her jacket looked like it could belong to a gang. But why would a gang want to kill a high school girl? And why would they leave their symbol on her jacket? That is how people find you. Which they should be found for murdering a high school girl. They can probably get up to life in prison or the death sentence.

"Did you know that girl?" Josh asked, leaning back against his seat.

"I wasn't able to see her face, so I have no clue," I sigh, gripping the steering wheel a bit, "the jacket did look kind of familiar, but maybe she got it at a store that I have seen it at before."

"Or because you've seen that jacket on that girl before," he replied.

"Josh, I've never seen her before, let it go," I sighed, making sure not to lose sight of the ambulance. It stays in front of us, its lights flashing and rushing to the hospital. That's the bad thing about this side of town, it takes forever to get to the hospital. So if you're on your deathbed you might as well accept your fate and die to the sound of the sirens.

"Shit, we are most likely going to run into my mom there. She's a receptionist at the front desk. So we have to like really sneak in. Do you even have a plan? Because I sure don't," I explained, gripping the steering wheel a bit more.

"My plan is that we carefully follow the doctors in while avoiding your mother. They will most likely take her in through the emergency room and if your mom works at the front desk then we don't have to worry about being caught since the ER is away from the front desk. But we have to be carefully not to get caught by other doctors," he explained.

"All I heard from that was don't get caught by the doctors. I'm great at sneaking around. I had to do it a lot when I was thirteen," I replied.

As we are driving at a very high-speed, I see a pair of flashing cherries behind us. Why are the cops even on the highway.

"Fuck. Hey, hand me my jacket," I demanded.

"Why?...Are you seriously going to pull the 'i'm pregnant and in labor, sorry officer'?" Josh asked, reaching into the back and handing me my jacket.

"Yep. And you're going to roll along with it," I replied, quickly shoving the jacket under my shirt and pouring some water on my pants. Thank god that my pants are a dark color because I am not going to walk into that hospital with water all on my crotch.

I then wait for the officer to come up to my window. I also need to make this look as realistic as possible. I'm already gripping my steering wheel, I just need to put a painful expression on my face.

"Kat? Are you really okay? You look like you're trying to take a shit," Josh stated, looking at me and then at the officer that is beginning to walk over to my car.

"Yep, now be quiet," I replied. The officer stops by my window and looks at us. He raises his eyebrows a bit when he sees me.

"Are you okay ma'am?" The officer asked, wiping his brow with his sleeve.

"Yep, just trying to get to the hospital before my baby pops out in the car," I replied. I can hear Josh cover his light laugh. The officer looks at him as well with a questioning look.

"What is he?" The officer asked.

"Him, oh he's my cousin Larry from Canada. Yeah, see my boyfriend died like two months ago. We were going to have a happy family and live our lives in Canada with Larry, but yeah. So now Larry has to be here for me," I explained, adding in some fake crying as well.

"Okay okay, go," The officer said, rolling his eyes and walking back to his car. What a lousy officer. At least he didn't question anything too seriously. I quickly put my foot on the gas pedal and take off again. Now I have to try to catch up with the ambulance again. This is going to be difficult since it was going super fast and we were there for at least four minutes. It's probably almost near the hospital by now.

"Great, now we have to try to catch up with the ambulance," I sighed, pressing my foot on the gas a bit more.

"I think I see it up ahead. It's at the brooks bridge exit," Josh replied. He must be using his other eyes since Brooks Bridge isn't for another three miles.

"Thanks," I replied. I quickly drive and make sure not to run into any other cars. My mom wouldn't be too happy if she found out I was speeding and ran into like ten other cars. A red car abruptly pulls in front of me. I quickly slam on the breaks and my eyes widen. Who the hell pulls in front of a speeding car.

I quickly pass them up and speed again. As I look into my mirror, the guy's face looks familiar. My heart then drops into the deep pit of my stomach. It's Ricardo, my old alpha. Or at least the guy looks like Ricardo. At least I have a better excuse to go faster now.

"Kat, maybe you should slow down. You're doing like a hundred now," Josh stated, grabbing onto the handle that is above the door.

"I have to get away. He can't be back," I replied. Josh raises his eyebrow slightly, giving me a questioning look. Josh doesn't know what Ricardo looks like. He has only heard what I told him about

"Are you okay?" he asked, placing his hand on my arm lightly. I quickly smack it away and get off on the exit. I can't drive like this on the highway now. At least we are almost at the hospital. My mind is going off into different directions. It's hard to focus. Everything is like a blur now. I quickly pull over for a moment.

"How good are you at driving?" I asked, looking over at Josh. His eyes widen a bit. I guess I'm going to take that as he really sucks and I shouldn't trust him to drive my car.

"I'm probably the worst driver ever. Why do you ask?" he replies, casually looking away from me.

"I need you to drive. I can't drive anymore. It's like my body is going into panic mode," I spoke softly.

"Okay okay. I promise not to crash the car. I got this," Josh replied, getting out of the car. I do the same and we switch around. I sit in the passenger's seat and Josh sits in the driver's seat. Now we need to continue our way to the hospital, which is not far from where we are at. As long as he steps on the gas we will get there in enough time to follow the doctors.

We quickly and quietly rush in along with the doctors. The nurses get them to a room and me and Josh hide so we can listen in to what they say.

"She was attacked outside of a café. I don't think there is much we can do to save her since we tried everything on the way here. The police asked a few people in there saw any strange creatures but everything said they saw nothing. It's strange. And the claw scratches on her don't match any animal except for maybe a wolf, but it's not a wolf," one of the doctors spoke. I could smell the stress on these doctors.

"Then we tell the media that it was a wolf. We tell Morgana that her daughter was mauled by a wolf and didn't survive. We lie until we find out the truth. This town is full of crazy things," another doctors says.

Vanessa, that is who died. She is the daughter of Morgana who is the town's hunter. She became a hunter after her mother got murdered by a pack of wolves and she swore she would get rid of all the supernatural creatures living here in Creeks Edge. But after she killed an entire pack, all the wolves in the wood have been extra careful about what they do and who they bite. But now that Vanessa is dead, we don't know what her mother is going to do. She is probably going to burn the entire forest down.

"Josh, we need to get out of here," I spoke quietly, grabbing his sleeve and starting to walk away. But as we slowly walk away I hear a voice shout 'hey, this is a staff only area!'. And at that moment I begin to run. We need to get out of here before we get into trouble with a bunch of doctors, and trust me, they are kind of really scary. More scary than the police. Cops can shoot you, but Doctors know where every organ is and I'm sure they know what kills you more quicker.

"We need to get out of here. the exit isn't far," Josh stated, sprinting off. I take his lead following him. As we get closer to the door more and more doctors surround us. Don't they have anything better to do like work on patients?

"Stop! I'll take care of these two," I hear a familiar voice shout. I stop running, causing me to run into Josh and I see my mom, standing with a very angry expression on her face.

"Do you know them ma'am?" The doctor with the sharp jawline asked.

"Of course I do, she's my daughter. And he's her friend," my mom replied, sighing, "just get back to your stations and don't chase anymore teenagers around."

The doctors then all leave and it leave me and Josh with my mom. And she is scarier than doctors.

"Sorry mom, we just wanted to get more information on what killed Vanessa since we were there when she got killed. But we didn't see anything except for her dead body on the sidewalk," I tried explaining.

"Still no excuse. Look, we have few security guards here and they are only guarding the main parts of the hospital. All of the other guards left to go help the police. I don't know if you two heard or not, but because of Vanessa's death, well at the moment of the message she was injured, but they stated that the town is on curfew, so I want you and whoever he is to go home. Please don't get in trouble," my mom sighed.

"Okay mom. And he's Josh. We'll get home," I replied. My mom then thanked me and gave me a small hug before returning to work.

"Yeah, we're not going home. There's a death to investigate. And if Ricardo is back in town, then he probably has something to do with it. Him and his pack are out with revenge and it starts with Morgana," I spoke.

"Why is her mother named after like that one snow white character?" Josh asked.

"I don't know, I didn't name her. But she is pretty mean. I met her once before I became you know," I sighed.

"Yeah, I know. Anyways, you should at least take me home because my Uncle a brother are probably worried since I told them that I was only going to the café. And they probably heard about Vanessa on the news so they might be even more worried," Josh replied.

"Uncle? You live with your uncle?" I asked.

"Yeah, my parents got murdered in the Bahamas. They got caught in a crossfire. So my Uncle took me and Robert in."

"Sorry for your loss," I replied.

"Don't worry, it happened when I was seven. I'm fully done grieving over them. It's time to move on. You have to move on eventually. It's hard, but you have it to. It's what they would have wanted."
