Chapter Two
The last bell rings and I quickly grab my bag, heading out of the classroom. I make my way over to my locker.  After debating with myself about following Josh or not, I decided that I would follow him on his way home. Whatever Josh is hiding from me, I will find out. One way or another. Even if I have to follow him everyday, I will find out. I open my locker and start shoving my text books in there. It's the first day of school and I already got assigned a textbook for almost every class. Let's hope this is all the textbooks that I'm going to get. I really don't have that much room in there for books. It's a rather small locker.

Once they are all in, I close my locker. Time to head out, but first I need to find my sister so I can say bye before we go our separate ways. I'm glad that she is trying to fit into this crazy school. And drama club is a wonderful thing to sign up for even though I don't really care for drama. Plus they had a drama club meeting over the summer and Elena loved it so much. It was love at first sight for her. I'm so glad that she is exploring her talent. It's great to see that she has talent.

As I am walking I spot Elena with one of her friends. I quickly run over to her, poking her side. She lets out a loud squeal that echoes down the entire hall. She then turns around, smacking my arm as hard as she can. Which may I mention isn't very hard. I just laugh at her attempt, placing a hand on the wall to steady me. She looks at me with a scowl on her face.

"Why did you do that!?" She exclaimed.

"I needed your attention and I didn't feel like speaking. Anyways, I wanted to say bye before you headed off to drama club. The only time I saw you was during sixth since we shockingly have that class together," I stated.

"That's because it's art which is an elective. There's this cute senior in there," she giggled, her friend joining in on the giggling, "anyways, you're still picking me up at six, right?"

"Of course, mom's working late today, so I'm the only here to pick you. I'll see you at six, okay?" I replied.

"Thanks. I'll see you at six sister dearest," She waved, turning back around and continuing to walk with her friend. Now it is time to stalk Josh. And lucky for me, he is walking through the student parking lot. I quickly exit the school and run over to my car, unlocking it as quick as I can. I need to keep my eye on him before he disappears.

I start-up the car and back out of my parking space. Luckily for me, Josh has not even left the parking lot yet. For some reason, today has just been going somewhat well for me. Or maybe Josh knows that I am stalking him and is letting me do it. Which that would be a bit weirder than me just stalking him without him knowing. And I guess it's not really stalking him, it just following him which can be considered stalking. But it's not stalking if I'm only doing it once.

I slowly drive behind him, making sure to keep a good distance that way he doesn't think I'm following him. He turns left, leaving the parking lot and walking towards the woods. See, if he was a normal regular human he wouldn't be going to the woods after school. He would be heading home and eating whatever he eats after school. Unless he is planning on going skinny dipping in the hot spring nearby. Which I pray he isn't because that won't be a lovely sight to see. I should have grabbed some holy water.

A car comes by as I reach the exit for the parking lot. As it goes by, I glance through the window and for a moment I catch a glimpse of his face, Ricardo, my old alpha. But as soon as I see him he is gone. So I can't tell if he was real or just me seeing things. I shake it off, quickly make a left turn and follow Josh who is looking all around to make sure that no one is following him. That is when I quickly throw my sunglasses on, hoping he didn't see my face before that happened. He shrugs and then turns back around, a light breeze blowing through his blonde hair.

The entrance to the woods lies near the beach. The scenery can go from a dark spooky experience in the woods to nice tropical sunshine and hot people. And a lot of people have reported seeing supernatural sightings in the woods at night when they are on a romantic picnic date. But like always, the case never gets investigated by anyone in this town really believes in werewolves and whatever else is out there.

Josh then cuts into the woods. He is nowhere near the entrance which just makes this even more suspicious. I pull over after he is out of sight.

"That is an odd place to enter the woods. The entrance isn't for another mile. You are definitely hiding something Josh," I whisper to myself. I turn off the car and get out.

Josh is already far into the woods. He must have ran when I took my time waiting for him. All I can do now is track his scent or the ridiculous footprints that he left. This boy has some very large feet. But the footprints lead into the woods, in a perfectly straight line. Let's just hope I don't come across wolf prints because that would mean he either got eaten by one, which I would have heard his scream, or he turned into one.

The woods are deep, very dense. They usually have a slight fog to make them seem a bit scarier than they are. But that doesn't stop horny teenagers from running in here and skinny dipping in the hot springs. And on a normal day, you can usually find some used condoms and some underwear that was left for when they had to run off really quickly.

Up ahead I hear a voice, they're very quiet and hard to hear, but I can still hear them. The words are hard to make out, but by the sound of their voice, it's a stressful secret. They're trying to plan something. Maybe to kill someone? Let's hope they aren't planning to kill anyone. Let's just hope they don't see me.

But in the distance an owl hoots, causing birds to be scared out of trees and fly above me. I glance at them for a second before tripping over a large rock, falling hard to the ground. Once I hit the ground, even more, birds get scared and fly off. The people must have seen it because I can hear footsteps coming closer. As long as I stay down and don't make any noise, they might not see me. Or like some people say, pretend to be a tree.

I keep my head on the ground, listening to the footsteps. They get louder and louder with each step. Soon I can hear heavy breathing. Before I know it, a pair of strong hands is pulling me up from the ground, violently shoving me to the other person. I look up and see, Josh with two other guys.

"Kat? What are you doing out here?" Josh asked, looking at me with anger and confusion written across his face.

"I came for a walk in the woods," I lied, biting my lip a bit as the dude holding me tightens his grip a bit.

"You shouldn't even be out in the woods. It's dangerous," Josh replied, sounding so concerned.

"If it's so dangerous then why are you out here?" I asked, raising my eyebrow and a slight smirk wanting to appear on my lips.

Josh just stood there, lost for an answer. After a moment he just let out a sigh and ran his rough hand through his hair. The guy holding me lets out a sigh as well. Maybe following Josh wasn't a good idea. But at least now I can find out what he is or what he is hiding.

"Let's talk somewhere more private," Josh spoke finally, turning around to start walking around.

"We're in the woods. Where would be more private? It's not like anyone else is out here," I replied, rolling my eyes slightly.

"Yeah, but people can randomly wander into the woods. I'm not sure who else could be out here," Josh sighed.

I really want to tell him that I'm used to being out here. I want him to know that he can trust me, but I just can't if he isn't like me. In case I was wrong about him this whole time. Plus he can't know that I was following him into the woods. He would never trust me and he would probably think that I am some creepy little girl. Which I'm sure he already thinks I'm insane from earlier.

Josh walks and the two dudes follow, the one dragging me along as well. My question at the moment is where else in these woods is a private place to talk? Does he have a cabin or something? I know Jess has a cabin out here. She usually goes there to have parties and do illegal things. Which is fine I guess since the police are usually too terrified to go out into the woods. They only come out here when Morgana is with them.

"Kat, why are you really out here?" Josh asks as we walk, some leaves and twigs being crushed under our feet.

"I already told you, I came for an afternoon walk in the woods. I just accidentally tripped over something and scared few birds," I lied, gritting my teeth as this dude tightens his grip more.

"Right. Right," Josh replied, approaching a small cabin, "take her inside. Don't do anything to her yet."

Oh, how the word yet holds so much. He's probably going to kill me, which will be useless since I'm only a beta. If I was a super powerful alpha, then yeah go ahead and kill me. But I just don't see why he is wasting his time on me. He must feel something, otherwise, he would have let me go already. If he thought I was a normal human, he would have let me run back off into the woods. But he has to feel something. Just like how I felt something.

The dude takes me inside of the cabin and shoves me onto the couch, finally letting go of me. I rub my arm and watch Josh and the other guy go into the other room for a moment. The dude left in the room with me stands close to the couch, probably making sure I don't run off. I'm smart enough to know not to run away. Because that is how you get killed in these situations.

"What's your name?" I asked, glancing up at the guy.

"Branden," he replied with a deep tone.

"Nice to meet you, Branden. I never met someone with such a strong grip," I muttered, looking at my arm. It's still the normal tan-pink color that it is. I'm just overreacting. I can't bruise anyways.

"Your fault for walking into the woods," Branden remarked.

"Well, I guess it's a crime for wanting to take a walk. Go ahead and kill me, but you won't gain any power from it," I scowled.

Before Branden can say anything, Josh comes into the room with the other guy. Branden just rolls his eyes and sits down. Josh walks over to me and stands in front of me. I glance up at him.

"So what's my fate, Josh?" I sighed.

"You're one of us. We're not going to kill you," he replied.

"Great to know that you wanted to kill me," I remarked, rolling my eyes.

"We weren't going to kill you at first. But yeah," Josh replies.

Great, they wanted to kill me. Isn't that lovely? Like I've said before if they did kill me they won't get anything from me. Josh crosses his arms over his wide chest, pacing around a bit. I just sit there and wait for them to speak. Because this silence is a bit awkward.

"Where's your pack?" Josh finally asked.

"I don't have one. I left them years ago," I replied.

"Why did you leave them? It's not really a wise decision to leave a pack. A pack protects you," Josh explained.

"I left them because they went on a hunting spree at a party with my classmates there. I was not just going to go with them. Even if I hated most of the people there. The pack leader yelled at me and I left, wanting nothing to do with them. Then later they were running away from the police. They got chased out-of-town. So, yeah, there's my exciting story," I sigh, standing up. I really just want to leave already. I got my answer for what Josh is.

"Sorry to hear about that. You can join our pack if you want," Josh suggested.

"I'll think about it."
