Chapter 4 (Will)
The dart stared off arcing through the air gracefully but nosedived into the concrete floor missing the large target by a long shot. “Why am I doing this again?" Picking up another dart from the supply basket to my right, I wondered maybe after the tenth time I had asked this question Mr. Gray would give me an actual answer.

The voice on the intercom crackled in response. “Will...How many times do I have to say this? It’s none of your business.”

I rolled my eyes, familiar with the dumb remark, and with a slight flick of the wrist hurled the pointed object in the center of the bullseye. Just like all of the other times it curved skillfully, cutting through the air, but then the dart’s altitude declined.

Again, I picked the small weapon up out of the basket, not before Mr. Gray piped up. “Disappointing as always.”

The small metal dart resting in my hands dropped to the ground. “Excuse me?” I have been putting up with his ludicrous training schedule, and I’m not going to blindly follow his orders anymore. "I’m done with you and your idiotic ways.” My eyes traveled to the observation room to glare at him, but Mr. Gray had disappeared only to reappear after the closest door to me swung open.

His voice was no longer harsh. “Don't you get it? I am doing this for you,” gesturing to the room around him. “All of this is to make sure you survive, we can't have you dying on us now can we, Jerry.”

Mr. Gray eyes flicked to the room he had just left. My gaze followed in suit, finding a man in his early thirties. The glare of the lights on the glass made it hard to see him clearly, but I did notice his lean frame. Static distorted the stranger’s voice as he pressed the button for the intercom.

“No we can’t. There will be too many questions. Will, I was there with Mr. Gray. I saw you walk into the restricted section of this building. Now, I suggest you get yourself together because your little spying act is over. You are not going anywhere unguarded.”

“Screw you.”

Mr. Gray piped up. “You must be ready, if you want to leave this place and still be alive. If you don't, well..." He shrugged with a sinister smile on his face.

"Fine. You want me to be ready. I'll show you ready." I snatched up the dart I threw on the ground and hurled it towards Mr. Gray. My failed attempts at aiming gone. The dart whizzed straight across the room and looked as if it was going to strike his left shoulder, but he flicked his wrist up catching it instantly.

“That's enough. My men will escort you back to your room.”

Instantaneously, one of the many doors opened to reveal the guards who I have seen habitually. Both flanked my sides seizing one arm each leading me through the door. Only after shoving me at the foot of my bed, did they scoff. A heel of a boot pushed into my back pinning me to the floor. “You're such a disgrace.”

With all his might, the guard’s footprint sank deep into my skin, pressing into my spine painfully. A few more seconds went by, black dots swarmed into my vision lungs burning for air, and it was lifted off. Turning my head to face them, the guard who was just watching the comotion spit in my face. Then without another glance, they stalked out making sure to lock all of the white locks on my door. And left me alone, like usual. Just me and my room.

Moving from the floor was a tedious process, my skin seemed to have plastered to the hard surface. I sat down on my bed and looked out the window. It was not even an actual window anymore. Once, I had gotten so frustrated I shattered the glass. No one bothered to repair it, but it wasn’t a big deal. Taking a small breath, I laid down on the bed and looked at the white ceiling. I had always wanted to know how life was run before the end. What did people do? Was it similar to life now?

I was so excited to leave to leave this place. They never told me I could, but I needed to be ready to make an escape. Needed wasn't the word I should have used. It is more like had to be ready. Who knows what would happen if I didn't. Once, I didn't follow the instructions that Mr. Gray gave me and he only allowed me to have one meal per day: the vomit oatmeal breakfast. Every time I want to go against him, he says don't make me let you eat only breakfast, again. I can't risk not being healthy, I never knew when I might have to run for it.

With nothing to do and only one hour before dinner, I was bored out of my mind. There was nothing to occupy myself with because there was only a bed and a small room for the bathroom. I heard footsteps. They were not the usual sound though. This time the were clicking instead of the shuffling coming from the guys in the white. They seemed...feminine.

I gulped at the painful thought. They told me I had a sister, a twin actually. She was tall and thin for her age. Her cropped blond hair glistened like gold in the sunlight. Her pale indigo of her eyes had specks of purple. I always imagined that if you stare into them it would be like staring into a trance. As I remembered this, something struck me as odd. The only people I have ever seen are the guys in white, and the male doctors. Oh, and how could I forget the lovable Mr. Gray’s. I don’t recall ever seeing a female face.

A knock on the door snapped me away from my thoughts. Through the observation window on my door an unfamiliar face had me jumping in fright.  "Can I help you?" I said weary.

My door swung open revealing her whole person. She was kind of old, like around her 60s or something. There were slight wrinkles trying to be hidden under too much makeup. She had black lipstick and black stud earrings. I could tell she was sort of short and pudgy.

She turned to face the guard who had pinned me to the floor moments before. "Are you sure he is the one? He looks a little different than I thought he would." I glared at her.

"Yes, Mrs. Hunting."

“Well then,” Mrs. Hunting clicked towards me. Power rolled off her in waves.

Her hand shot out and caught my chin in her hand. The lady’s fingers maneuvered my face so I was looking at hers. Mrs. Hunting seemed to be scrutinizing me, judging me. “Did Gray give him the serum?”

“Yes ma’am.”

She whipped her head around. “As I am the CEO, you may refer to me as boss. Nothing else. After I finish with Will, I have some urgent matters to take care of with Gray. Now go get him.” The man ran off.

Mrs. Hunting’s attention was back on me. “Now, Will, I expect you to cooperate, and remember, if you don’t your only making things worse for yourself.”

I thought it was best to stay silent, but that was apparently the wrong answer. Her long nails started to pierce my flesh. “It doesn't show respect to stay silent. It may be an act of rebellion, but I assure you that I can make your life a living hell.”

A small cough was enough for her to drop her fingers, and before she turned around the woman looked at me with amusement. "Have a great rest of the evening Will...Now, Gray, I assume you took care of the serum.”

“Correct.”

“Good. Now, what’s the next step?”

“Boss, the next step was just finished. We have to do is calibrate the system. Although, I still have to finalize the final step, the activation portion.”

“How delightful!”
 ======▪======
There were weapons to choose from bow and arrow, dart gun, or a sword. I looked at the arrow. The tip was sharp, but slightly rounded. I realized they weren't supposed to kill, they were filled with sleeping poison. I read about them a while back. If it grazes or hits the target, the arrow will release its poison. I grabbed the bow and arrow. I moved onto the x in the middle of the room awaiting my fate. The lights blinked out.

A voice cut through the darkness of of the room. "3...2...1...GO."

I looked up, there! A green shape of a person ran at me. I released arrow after arrow hitting the target perfectly each time. A green person jumped down and came running at me. I hit it with the arrow, and the room began to fade out.

"Boss, the calibration has been a success.”

I shot up, eyes drinking in my surroundings. There were no weapons or an x in the middle of a metal room. Instead, I was in a white room that looked to be a hospital. My body was strapped to a  white hospital bed and a needle stuck out of my arm. The only people in the room with me was the woman from earlier and Mr. Gray.

She nodded at his statement not caring that I was awake. My head felt cloudy and my body felt a little numb, like all of my nerves disappeared, taken away. "What did you do to me?"

Mrs. Hunting smirked "Just a little something. Oh, and Will, have fun on your little trip.”

Nothing made any sense, I didn't understand what she was talking about. “What?”

Mr. Gray started to speak very loudly. “Emmitt, it’s time. Project Takeover has started.”
