The first day of OT
2nd August, 2018
Fufty students, from fifty different backgrounds, all with a dream of becoming CA. All of them coming to the Reva College of IT, to attend their OT course.
An auto rickshaw stoppend in front of the college gate. A boy wearing blue checked shirt and brown cotton pants, got out the rickshaw. He had put on the earphones and was listening to I'll make it up to you - by Imagine Dragons on full volume so, he didn't hear anything the watchman said to him, who was standing in the front of the gate.
The boy passed the gate and walked towards the main building. The watchman came running from behind, he put his hand on the left shoulder of the boy and stopped him.
He asked him yo shouw his ID. As it was his new day, he didn't had any ID. So, he showed the acknowledgement he received from the Kalyan branch of ICAI. The watchman checked the acknowledgement, gave it back to the boy and let him go.
The first thing he noticed when he entered the main building was quotes. There were lots of quotes written on the walls of the college. Some of which were boring and the others didn't made any sense. He checked the noticeboard to find his classroom. His class was on the second floor, class no. 201. He used the stares, reached the sevond floor and when he looked in the class, it was empty. He was tge first to reach there but, he was too shy to get in so, he waited outside the class for others.
Half an hour later, the other students came. They entered the class and sat on the bench. Many of them were sitting with their friends but, the boy was sitting on the third bench of the second row all alone, because of his million dollar decision.
Tapping his foot, bitting his lips, the boy looked around the class. On to his right, on the second bench of the third row, there were two girls sitting with bags on their lap.
Few minutes later, the faculty entered the class. He was a middle aged man with few hairs left on top. He stood up on the dice and greeted the students. The students stoop up and greeted his back. While the students were sitting, the man asked the girls who were sitting on the second bench of tge third row to come and stand in front of the class. The girls kept their bags on the desk and went to the man. They stood in the front of the class, facing the students.
'Are your kids okay? Can they stay without you?' The man made fun of them.
The whole class started laughing.
'I want you kids to keep your bags on the floor. It's a clean floor, keep it there and you all sit comfortably.' said the man, looking at the students.
With a few seconds of murmur, the students kept their bags on the floor. The man took a piece of chalk and wrote his name on the blackboard.
Prof. Harshal Patil, MBA.
Prof. Harshal introduced himself and asked the students to introduce themselves. He wanted the students to say two sentences about themselves.
He first asked the girls, who were standing in front of the class to introduce themselves.
'My name is Ritika. I love listening to music.' said the girl, who was wearing a dark blue colored churidar payjama with a ocher color shall pinned over the left shoulder.
'My name is Kavya. I love reading books.' said the girl, who was wearing an orange colored churidar payjama.
The whole class went silent when they heard a witch's laugh.
Tik tok.
Tik tok.
A short girl, wearing a ten foot long heels walked into the classroom. She had the most annoying laugh, a witch's laugh. She apologized to the Prof. for coming late.
'My name is Payal. I have completed my graduation and now I'm trying my luck at CA.' said the girl, who came late.
On the first day itself, all other students started to hate Payal because, of her annoying behavior and over smartness.
'My name is Shane. I'm an Artist.' said the boy, who was sitting alone, on the third bench of the second row.
After the introduction session was over, Prof. Harshal asked the students to form groups of five. After the groups were formed, they played games which helped the students to boost the confidence and overcome their stage fear.
And by the end of the first day of their OT batch, which was nine hours long, the students got to know more about eachother. The students met new people, made new friends and few of them found their love.
