Osama bin Laden
Born on March 10, 1957 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Osama Bin Laden was the seventeenth child - there were more than fifty siblings - of Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden, an important Saudi construction magnate, and his tenth wife.
The little boy was raised in a palace in Jeddah, where he received a good education.
From a very young age, he stood out as a courteous, kind, caring, intelligent, and compassionate child.
However, he could not enjoy much of his father, who died in a helicopter accident when he was eleven years old.
His entire economic empire was transferred to his parents, who came to control the great fortune.
His life was spent in the palace, where according to some apparently unfounded rumors, he regularly celebrated parties and committed all kinds of excesses.
Nothing could be further from the truth: Osama decided to stay in Arabia to marry a niece of his mother, Nawja Ghanem, fourteen years old.
This did not cause him to leave his studies in religion and economics at Abdul Aziz University, where he eventually graduated in civil engineering.
It was in his student days that he came into contact with other political thoughts.
Let us remember that he shared the Wahhabi doctrine, the majority among Sunnis, very rigorous, puritanical - they do not fully accept technology or music in the religious sphere, for example - and expansionist.
Although the knowledge of other more politicized and anticlerical doctrines, added to his old beliefs, entered the bases of his own thought.
Among his ideas stood out the one that said that the rebels were martyrs.
And so he demonstrated from then on with his participation in a multitude of attacks.
His terrorist career was meteoric.
It began in 1979 with support for the Afghan rebels in their war against the former Soviet Union.
Among the actions carried out, the one to organize the recruitment of thousands of Arab volunteers stands out.
It was at that time when information about Bin Laden began to travel half the world.
The CIA was allegedly in charge of training not only this man, but also some of the Arab terrorists who split up to start a civil war during the 1990s.
They called them "freedom fighters." However, the US government has always denied any link between the intelligence agency and any Taliban militia.
During the 1980s, bin Laden devoted his efforts to raising funds and advising senior Arab officials in Peshawar and Azzam.
He also used his engineering skills to build, with the approval of the Saudi royal family, camps, shelters and roads for Afghan soldiers.
During this period he even participated in several combats and in 1988 he founded the Al Qaeda organization together with Aymán al-Zawahiri and fourteen other associates.
Its meaning in Arabic was completely common, "The base", and it was intended to unite all groups of militants dispersed in any region to fight against the Soviets (and, later, against the United States).
Its policy of action was twofold: one focused on guerrilla warfare, such as that in Afghanistan; and another, in violent actions aimed at provoking a popular uprising that ushered in a new era for Muslims around the world.
There is one fact that makes Bin Laden decide to break his relationship with the Saudi regime and even with his own family: Saudi Arabia's support for the United States during the 1991 Gulf War.
Osama feels betrayed and decides to go into exile in Sudan, where he will run a company as a terrorist front.
He had just become the greatest enemy of both countries, mainly the United States.
Between 1983 and 1998 dozens of attacks took place around the world thanks to the leader of Al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden. Beirut, Lebanon, the twin towers of the World Trade Center in their first attack in 1993, Kenya or Tanzania were victims of his wrath.
But the target in each of these countries was always the US citizenship of embassies, military bases or other types of buildings.
In his own words, he only wanted to establish "a true Islamic state in Saudi Arabia", which in his view had become an American colony.
And he added that these actions were not intended to declare war on the West, but "on the American regime, which is against all Muslims."
The famous fatwas - religious decrees - in the form of a letter that Bin Laden sent between 1996 and 1998, in which he declared a holy war against the United States, put the country of freedom on a red alert.
Something big was in the works: the 9/11 attack
The least we could imagine that September 11, 2001, is what would happen first thing in the morning in three parts of the United States. Four passenger planes - previously hijacked and with all their crew and passengers inside - changed their route heading to the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Arlington County and Washington (possibly with the aim of attacking the Capitol or the White House).
The four planes were flying with a full tank and, before being diverted from their route, were heading to Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The first two hit the famous Twin Towers in Manhattan.
The second impact, broadcast live on television worldwide, caused the theory of an accident to be discarded.
For several minutes both buildings staggered, until finally collapsing. The South Tower, at 9:59 a.m., and the North Tower, at 10:28 a.m. A deafening roar shook the ground, and the area was filled with dust and debris. Nobody believed what was happening.
I will leave the biography up to here, as happened with Sigmund Freud, it is very very extensive so I will leave you several documentaries and the page so that you can read it there
