The Nurses Part 1

"Mum," Chloe called as she walked down the stairs that morning but there was no answer. She walked into the living room to see if her parents were there, but they weren't. Chloe thought nothing of it. They were probably just in the kitchen having breakfast.

Before she started to walk to the kitchen she looked out of the window. It was an awful day; the rain was pouring down covering the concrete with puddles . She sighed and turned away from the window. Then she went to the kitchen to say good morning to her family, and that is when she knew something was wrong. Her parents were not there, and she knew that they wouldn't still be in bed but she had to check anyway.

Chloe rang up the stairs and her heart was beating fast from fear because she knew something wasn't right.

"Mum?" She shouted when she reached the top of the stairs but of course there was no answer.

"Dad?" She tried instead. Once again, there were no answer.

Her parents were gone but she didn't believe it. She had to see if it was true so she went to their room. The bed was empty. Why would they do this? Chloe didn't understand why her parents would leave her. Maybe they just went out and were coming back. She made herself believe this was true and made her way back down stairs.

Back in the kitchen she made herself breakfast. After she had her breakfast she decided to watch a DVD for a little while. It finished and now she was beginning to get very worried. Her parents still hadn't come back.

She went back upstairs to get ready. On her way back down she grabbed her coat, and headed off outside to see if she could see them. Hopefully, they were on their way back home.

She opened the door and walked down her garden path. When she reached the gate she noticed the back of a woman, walking at the end of the street. The woman was wearing a nurses outfit. Chloe didn't think anything of it, she just thought that the woman must be going to work. She turned back around to go inside so that she could call her parents.

She shut the door behind her and then went to go pick up the house phone. Chloe dialed her mother's phone number but she didn't answer. Instead it went straight to voice mail. She left a message.

"Mum, where are you? I'm worried. Call me when you get this message," she said and then returned the phone.

She decided to go to the shop. Maybe they would be back by the time she got back home, so she left once again locking the door behind her.

The shop seemed empty. In fact the streets seemed deserted. It seemed too quite, and it kind of freaked Chloe out.

She got some chocolate and ready salted crisps. She took them to the counter only to realise the shop keeper wasn't there.

    "Hello," she shouted.

"Hello is anyone here?" She asked scared. It was strange her parents were missing, there was no shop keeper and the streets were deserted. What was going on?

She ran out of the shop back to her house. When she got back she rushed straight for the phone and dialed 999. It was engaged. She had no idea what to do now. Her parents might be in danger. She put the phone down, and went back outside to see if she could see anyone that could help her.

She walked around the block and saw another woman dressed in a nurses outfit. The woman slowly turned around. Chloe saw that the woman's outfit was covered in something red that looked an awful lot like blood. The woman also had a injection needle in her hand that had some blue liquid in. She started to run towards Chloe.

With her heart pounding in fear Chloe ran away.

It seemed as if she was running away from the nurse for ages. While she was running away she saw a ice cream van drive pass. Why didn't they help? Maybe they where a part of all of it.

Finally she got away and now she hid behind some shop bins outside in Asda's car park. The streets weren't a very safe place to be right now. Not with creepy nurses walking around. She wanted to make her way back to her house and lock her self inside, but she was to frightened to move from where she sat.

Chloe heard something running towards her but she didn't know what. She held her breath in case it was one of the nurses. Hopefully they wouldn't look down and see her.

She gave a sigh of relief when she saw the cat run off. She was safe. That was if the cat was just running and not from someone. Slowly, she stood up, keeping a look out for them. There was no one there.

Her house wasn't far she could run there. If she could get there without being caught. She knew that there was a huge chance she would run into one of the nurses, but the longer she stayed there, the more chance she could be found.

She started running back to her house as quickly as she could. In fact she had never ran so fast in her life. She made it there safely and quickly locked the door behind her.

The crisps and chocolate which she had bought were still on the table next to the house phone. She picked them up and sat down on the sofa.

Once she had finished eating them, she tried ringing the police again, surely not everyone would be missing. It just didn't make sense for them to just vanish from the earth. She dialed 999 for the second time to day and of course no one answered. Why did she even think that they would?

Chloe was alone in the world now. Well except for the scary nurses and the ice cream man. It didn't make sense why her and the man was the only ones left. There was no one around to explain what was going on so she would have to find out why her self. She put the phone down on the receiver and went to the kitchen.

Venturing back outside would mean that she need something to protect herself, in case the nurses decided to attack her. She got out the biggest knife she could find, from the drawer. After she closed it, she made her way back outside to figure out what was going on. She wouldn't go back home until she found her parents. Even if she was scared she couldn't give up searching for them or give up trying to figure out the reason they had gone missing in the first place. She didn't want to be left in the world with them nurses. If she could find her parents maybe she could find the others too. Which meant all this would be over.

Only she could stop it but she was scared that she would be caught by them. She was certain that the nurses had something to do with the disappearances.

She breathed in deeply and then out again before, stepped outside. She locked the door behind her.

There was no sign of the nurses, the ice cream man and his van. It was hopeless. Maybe Chloe couldn't stop all this. Maybe she was doomed to spend the rest of her life alone on this planet, for ever running whenever she encountered a nurse.

The sound of a van's wheels on the concrete road could be heard, a little further in the distance. She stood and listened to the sound getting louder, and louder. It was getting closer, until it turned around the corner and then just stopped.

Chloe walked over cautiously. Maybe the man knew what was going on but she still didn't know if she could trust him. She held onto the knife's handle tighter.

"What's going on? Why are you following me?" Chloe demanded.

"I'm protecting you from the nurses," he answered.

"No, you're not. I was being chased earlier and you didn't help me," she said.

"You was doing a great job in getting away. I knew you could out run her. If you was in danger I would have helped," he said.

"Do you know where everyone is?" Chloe asked.

"The nurses have taken them some where but I don't know where. I saw them inject a little girl with the blue liquid and then dragged her off some where. I wanted to follow them but it would be too dangerous to go on my own," he replied.

"What so you want me to help you? Maybe you should find someone else. I'm not very strong so I won't be any use in a fight," Chloe told him.

"There is no one else. You escaped them. You are resourceful and smart to have not been caught yet. Everyone else has been caught."

"I think that it was just luck," Chloe said.

"Will you help me or not? They have taken my little girl. I have to save her and I can't stop them by myself," the man said.

"Yes, if you help me to find my parents."

"Deal," the man agreed. "We will need a lot more weapons and protection if we are going to fight them. Find whatever you can and meet me back here in about half an hour, okay."

"Okay," Chloe said and turned around. He drove off.

Chloe walked back to her house. When she got back she changed her clothes. She needed to change into something more suitable for running, and fighting in. Chloe went up stairs to her room to put on her trainers, and her jacket. She also grabbed her backpack and went to the kitchen.

The knife drawer was now empty because she had taken them all out, and put them in her bag. Once she had filled her bag with them, she set off out to meet the man. She just hoped that she could trust this guy to help her find her parents.

What if he was just setting her up? Chloe didn't know who this guy was so why should she trust him? She couldn't help but think that it was a mistake to trust this man. Maybe she should go find her parents herself, but this guy knew more about what was going on. If it turned out that he wasn't to be trusted at least he would help her get to the nurses hideout so she could find them.

Something came running around the corner, snapping Chloe out of her thoughts. Before she had time to realise that it was them, the small brown haired nurse made a grab for her. The nurse managed to grab her, and she was about to put the needle in her. Who knows what was in there. It could be poison that could kill her in just a few seconds. She managed to pull away.

Chloe noticed someone sneak up behind the nurse and she fell to the floor. It was the ice cream man. He looked different in his changed clothes. She also noticed that he held a knife in his hand. He saved her; he had killed the nurse.

    "Thank you," Chloe said.

    "You're welcome," he said.

"Where is your van?" She wondered.

"I left it at home. We need to be quite and careful if we follow them. They will notice if a van is following them," he answered.

"That is true," She said in agreement.

"So are you ready to do this?" he asked.

" No but do we really have a choice," she replied. Chloe opened her bag and took out a knife. She closed it before putting it back on her shoulders.

"Come on let's go," the man said.

Chloe took a look at the lifeless nurse on the floor. They wouldn't get away with this. If they had hurt her parents they would pay. Chloe would make sure of it. They disgusted her. How could they take people like that against their own will? She would stop them; she was determined.

She turned away, and followed the man into a battle, that they might not even win.
