Yesterday, I went to Upstate and Oliver went to Sunshill. We tried to get more information from the neighbors of the victims but, it was a waste of time. We couldn't find anything more than already knew.
Today, Oliver and I went to meet Dr. Siddique. He is a physician. When we asked him about his affair with Nawal, he was quite open about it. He didn't hide anything from us.
He said,
Nawal was unhappy with her life. Her husband was abusive and she continued to live with him for her children. I met her for the first time when I was working in Cloverfield, at the State Hospital.
She was my patient. After three to four visits, we became good friends. When we came to know more about each other, I felt sad about her and I wanted her to be in my life. One day, we met in a restaurant and I told her about my feelings towards her. I said, I wanted to marry her and we can live a happy life with her children but, she refused. She said, she can't let her family down. It wound be a great insult to her family if she divorces her husband and marries me.
For her, I was just a way of feeling relaxed. I was her escape. We used to meet, share love and she would return back to her miserable life. When I moved here(Mint City), I never thought she would come here to meet me. But she did, she continued to visit me.
A week before her death, she came to meet me. There were bruises all over her body. Her husband, Ibrahim came to know about our affair and last night, he beat her to death.
I could see, Siddique was telling the truth. We left his house and came back to our office, we continued our work, searching that one person, the link that connect everyone.
