KIM'S POV

Cassie couldn't talk because of the number of people around so we headed to the girl's bathroom to talk. Once we entered, she broke into a loud cry.  She grabbed a tissue and blew her nose.

"He said that he doesn't love me anymore and he can't have me tagging around because he's with someone else."

I stood in front of her lending my ears for her to pour out herself. I didn't want to interrupt her and so I kept silent.

"He broke up with me Kim!"

"But what happened," I asked and continued, "a week ago everything was great? "

"Everything was fine. Yes everything was fine till I found out that he went to Mandy's birthday party." She teared up even more, emphazing on the name.

"Mandy," Kim reiterated, "Isn't she his ex? What did he say?"

"There's nothing he could say that made me believe him. He didn't bother telling me because he was hiding something." She said.

"Is this my fault after all? I just told him I needed space - I needed space.  Was that my wrong?"

"Calm down Cassie," I said hugging her the more. She shook under my arms.

When it came to feminists in Caster High, Cassidy Jones was in the top three. She understood what that really meant and she didn't give any person, especially those looking up to her, a teensiest reason to think she was even a little bit weak. But one thing she forgot was that being strong did not mean being emotionless. She had built a wall but those who knew her saw the full spectrum that was Cassidy Jones. I knew how soft she really was and that was what I saw.  This had shattered
her and I had no idea how I was going to help her  pull through. For now the best way I knew was consolation.

"It wasn't your fault Cassie," I said, "I think he made the worst decision ever. You are beautiful with or without him." She wiped the tears as she nodded in seeing eye to eye with me. It made me happy that at least she was getting out of her despondency. "You are still you."

"You know what," she sniffed as she stood up,"it's his problem.

Our hold broke when the door opened to a blonde sophomore. Cassie loosened the knob on the tap and beat her face with water to wash away all the pain; an evidence of her crying.

The siren went off again for the next lesson. Kim and Cassie followed course and went into their individual classes."

------------

After school, I saw Cassie to her father's car. The poor girl was still sad, even so that she cancelled out on our after school trip to the Tea Cup. Ever since we became the best of friends, Cassie stopped her father from coming for her after school and always escorted me home. When the Tea Cup opened, it became our favorite stop on the way home. They had really nice cupcakes and maybe Shane's presence there added my particular interest; fifteen minutes of munching and stealing glances at him. He worked there after school as a waiter. And once every month he played a gig.

"See you Cassie," I said my goodbye as I hugged her. "Girl we'll meet." She said and entered the car. The plush and glossy vehicle revved off as I huffed a heavy sigh. The sleek metal passed to reveal Lukas mounting his bike. I ran towards him to catch him before he rode off.

"Hey," I called. He craned his head to look at me. "I've been looking everywhere for you."
"Are you talking to me?" He asked.

"Yes," I replied and continued, "I just wanted to say the performance you gave in there was unbelievable. "

" You mean the audition?Oh Thanks," he said with a beaming smile. His dark cerulean eyes gleamed.

"Can you remind me where I know you from?" He asked to my surprise, although I couldn't blame him anyway because the project took a few days to complete.

"Remember the girl you helped with the Golden Bridge sculpture? "

He began to shake his head notifying that he didn't remember. "In freshman year--you know the girl with the... "
"That was you?" He asked astonished. I nodded. "uh..Kim right?" He asked.

"Yeah," I responded.

"Whoa, you've changed so much." he remarked and continued, "back then you looked very much... "

"Well yes," I said under clinched teeth.

In my fresh man year, and even before, I didn't really pay attention to myself. I don't know but was nonchalant when it came to appearance. My normal routine was brush the hair, pomade the face and that was really it. I couldn't give a damn about what anyone thought, I still didn't now but sometimes the truth came like daggers to the heart. No matter how bad it hurt, you just have to get them out and make sure that they don't ever return. So I did what I could and asked Cassie for help. Looking at me now, I guess I owe it her for putting in her all to teach me the easiest ways to kill a guy. I'm pretty much rock at it now.

"I must say you look pretty amazing, " he complimented with a firm nod.

"Thank you." I said, a red tint rising to my cheeks.

"So where are you heading?"

"Home," I replied.

"Which street?"

"Seventh street."

"Oh," he said as a disappointed look drew on his face," we're no where close. I would have given you a ride."

"On the bike?"

"Yeah," he said, "on the bike."
"Uh-uh," I shook a no with a smile.

"Why are you scared?" He asked and added, "I don't bite."
He took me aback. He laughed at the expression on my face.

"OK," he said, "why don't we walk then."

We headed down to the t-junction before the school. After he rode on the metal horse of his. He said he lived on the other side of town and so had to hurry.

While heading home, I didn't stop at the Tea Cup because I was by myself and if I showed up there, I wouldn't have anyone to chat with. Cassie had done a great job of leaving me quiet for about fifteen minutes till I reached home.
