What if believing in God gives satisfaction?
WHAT IF BELIEVING IN GOD GIVES SATISFACTION?
After a lot of discussion and arguments about existence of God when religious people can't prove God's existence they come to their last argument that what if a person has God as his last support of living in difficult times or get mental satisfaction, inner peace by believing in God? Then why to oppose them? Believing in something which is not there is not bad unless that belief give rise to problems to you or society or forms an obstacle of society's progress. But what would you say about a person who believes that his mother (who died years before) is living with him? Or if he believes he has a sister (who is not actually there) and he talks with her? Even if he gets satisfied and lives happy with his imaginary mother/sister the society will call such people to be mentally disturbed, isn't it? Same thing can be said about the people who believe in God, his existence and even talk with him as prayers. They also get mental satisfaction and inner peace by believing in God.
Even if an Indian worships the Gods and you came to know that the Gods he worships every morning is the ancient Greek Gods Apollo, Zeus, Ares, Hermes or Dionysus etc. you will call that person to be psycho and mentally disturbed, isnt it?
In other words, believing in something which is not there or not has been proven to be there is bad because that one wrong belief will lead you to do many wrong things and make you follow many wrong things.
Example- believing in God and the religion just for your satisfaction will knowingly or unknowingly invite the concepts of worshipping him, praising him, praying him, considering him the ultimate truth and cause for all unknown phenomenon or answers to many unanswered questions, concepts of soul, rebirth, hell and heaven, dos and don’ts, wrong reasons for right things, superstitions, hatred for other religions, patriarchal concepts and much more.
