Усе в голові. Заплутані мрії Бажання знайтися в великій війні. Навколо — руїни. Заплутані тіні Паскудять повітря аналізом слів. Звук і висоти. Висоти всіх звуків. Забуті слова, забуті думки. Над серцем лягали нестерпнії муки, Не зміг я схопитись за тремор руки. Письменник... це смішно, неначе вже став ним. І що я скажу? От що напишу? Слова дерев'яні, мов ріг носорога, Все рвуть помилками. Усе, чим дишу. На стежці — перо. І страх біля нього. Мої два кузени, ідіть-но сюди. Залізьте у шафу, прошу ради бога, Бо я там опинюсь. Й чекайте біди!
