Troy.
Well, it was a one time thing for her. I think it's good because I wouldn't want to do it again with her unless it actually means something to her.
I parked my car in the driveway of her house.
"Okay, so don't get creeped out by them." She said and I let out a laugh.
"You've been saying things like that about your own parents. I'm starting to think that they're not humans."
She let out a small laugh. "No, it's just I'm pretty sure they'll embarrass me in front of you." She said.
"Even if they do. Don't worry I won't tell anyone." I said as I undone my seat belt and got out of the car.
I locked my car as Delilah also got out. We both made our way towards the door. Delilah was about to ring the bell when the door immediately opened.
A couple nearing their fifties was standing there. The woman had same facial features as Delilah but her hair were dark. I think she got her blonde hair from her dad but I didn't see any hair on his head.
"Hey mom. Hey dad." Delilah said as her parents gave her a small smile.
She was right they are freaking out.
"This is Troy. Troy these are my parents." Delilah introduced us. I shook their hands as they let us in.
"Del, sweetie. Why don't you go upstairs and change?" Her mom said.
"I think I'm fine in these." Delilah said.
"No, you're not. Because you've been wearing that since yesterday and you smell so go and change."
"But I don't-"
Her mom glared at her so intensely that she didn't even complete her sentence and just walked past her. I think she didn't want me to be alone with her parents. She glanced back at me before going upstairs.
"Troy, why don't you come and sit down?" Her mother said as she lead us into the small drawing room.
The room might've been small but it was decorated so nicely. I sat down on one of the couches.
"I'll prepare for brunch. So why don't you two talk?" Her mom said before leaving me and Delilah's dad alone in the room.
"So, Troy what do you do?" He asked.
"I'm a high school student. I go to Saint Germaine."
"Hmm.. so-"
"Hey, look at that it's Troy Maxwell." I heard a little squeaky voice as I looked in the direction of voice. It was a girl about fourteen years old. She seemed like a younger version of Delilah with dark brown hair. She was dressed up in a loose long shirt and shorts which came upto her knees. Her face might look like Delilah's but looking at her dressing I think she's a complete opposite of her.
"Dad, you remember the guy from the Saint Germaine's panthers I've been telling you about?" She said as she sat down next to her father.
"The one you told me is a combination of Isco, Bale and Modric?"
"Yup. And he's the one I've been talking about." She said as she pointed at me.
I'm flattered. But I would say it's an overstatement to call me a combination of Isco, Bale and Modric. I mean come on those are world class players.
"Oh, so you're the guy Flynn was always talking about." Her father said with a huge grin. "He really liked you and would always go on and on about how much of a nice person you are."
I just smiled. I didn't know what to say. I've always respected Flynn a lot as a player. He was really good at his game. We've talked only a few times but I never really thought I'd have this much impact on him that he'd just go around and tell people about me. He was talking about me with his girlfriend's parents. What was he thinking? I've always thought he was a little weird.
"Oh, dad. I completely forgot. Mom's calling you in the kitchen." She said.
"Don't bother him. I'll be back in a minute." He said before leaving.
She was looking at me with a smile at first. "I'm Jon." She said.
"Jon?"
"Actually, it's Joanna but I like to be called Jon." She said.
"Okay. Jon."
"You know I just saved your ass." She said as she leaned back in her seat.
"Thank you?"
"So what do you think about my sister?" She asked.
"Umm.. I- I think-"
"Do you think she's hot?"
I was a little surprised at the bluntness of this kid but I found it a little funny too.
I let out a small laugh. "I think she is."
"Noice. So you like her?"
I do. But should I tell you?
"Oh my God, you're so obvious. You do like her."
You know she's just questioning and answering herself.
"Give me your phone." She said as she stood up and walked upto me.
"What?" I asked.
"I'm not robbing you. Just give me your phone."
Delilah told me to beware of her parents. I think she forgot to tell me about her sister.
I gave her my phone as she dialed a number in it and send a call. The phone in her pocket rang. She declined the call and give the phone back to me.
"That's my phone number. Save it. I'm arranging a surprise birthday party for Del next week." She said as she sat back down on the couch.
"It's her birthday?"
"Yeah, she doesn't want to celebrate it. But I can't just see my sister mourning Flynn for the rest of her life. She needs to move forward and I think she just needs a little push." She seemed a little worried. "So you're in?" She asked.
"Yeah." I said.
"Good." She smiled widely. "I'll send you all the details. And if you want to buy her a present. Get one of those wooden music boxes. She really likes those. Also before buying her a music box send me pictures and I'll help you select one."
"Okay." I said.
"Hey, what're you guys talking about?" Delilah asked as she entered the room.
"I was just asking him to play Fifa with me and he told me that he sucks at Fifa." Jon answered.
Delilah looked at me. "Really?"
"Umm.. yeah. It's really hard to control the ball with a controller." I said.
"Okay." She smiled. " Food's ready." She said.
Jon left the room first as I stood up.
"She didn't bother you too much. Did she?" Delilah asked as Jon left.
"Not really." I answered.
"Good." She said as she lead me towards the garden behind the house.
The brunch was good. Her parents were really nice. Especially her father. It turned out that he used to play football in high school too. So we had a lot to talk about. After a nice day with Tysons it was time that I take my leave. Delilah walked me to the door.
"So when should we have our next hang out?" She asked.
I shrugged. "I'll be busy this week because I have a match. How about the week after this one?"
"Sounds good." She said as I nodded.
"Good." I said as we walked towards the car. "So, I'll see you later, Delilah."
She giggled. "It's weird." She said.
"What's weird?" I asked.
"You're the only person who calls me by my full name." She said.
"You want me to call you by a nickname?" I asked and she nodded.
"Yeah. You can call me Del like everyone else." She shrugged.
"How about Lilah?" I asked. I don't know why but I actually find Lilah a melodious name.
She mused for a moment. "Lilah? It's new but sounds nice. I'll get used to it." She giggled a little.
Then she stopped for a moment and observed my face for a moment.
"What?" I asked.
"We're good. Right?" She asked.
"Of course we are." I replied. Aren't we?
