MARK ON THE PSYCHE
Skylar opened the door with an access card and entered the 'A' Block. The corridor was as dark and the wall was tuberous as an abandoned building. Suddenly a cough was heard. Loud cough. Skylar ran up, orienting by the sound and saw a man of about 30 in medical clothes. He was sitting upright with his back against the wall. Blood was flowing from his mouth, and his right hand was holding on to his stomach. Blood was visible through his hands.
Goose bumps went through Skylar. She felt sorry for the man. Outside, he seemed friendly to her. She walked closer to him and knelt down to line up with his eyes.
-Hey, sir, can I help you?
The man was trembling. Apparently he was afraid of something.
-I won't hurt you. I am not crazy. I was able to escape. If you still have at least a tiny bit of common sense, answer me.
-They will kill them...
-Who are 'them'?
-Sarah and Katie... They'll take them from me...
Skylar took the stranger's hand and felt the cold liquid on her hands. It was blood.
-Please... Don't let them kill them...
-I promise. They will stay alive.
-Besides them, I have nothing else...
These were the last words of the doctor. Skylar felt pity. It slowly cut her heart. A tear ran down her cheek. Skylar put herself in the place of the dock and couldn't stand it even for a few seconds.
'I still have someone to save. Scarlett, I'm coming...' ;-Skylar sorted thoughts and priorities in her head.
