THE SECOND BLOW ON THE PSYCHE
At that time, Skylar had already reached the security room. Inside the room, she noticed a camera bounded from the room by glass. From there came a scream and the sound of blows against a blunt object, or rather against glass. Coming closer, Skylar saw something that made another crack in her psyche; one of the patients banged the forehead against the glass of one of the doctors. The doctor's body was bare above the waist. There were numerous cuts on the stomach that were still bleeding. Doc was still alive. Probably only thanks to the shock and adrenaline rush.
-HELP ME! PLEASE! PUSH THE CENTRAL BUTTON! PLEASE, I DON'T WANT TO DIE! HE WILL KILL ME...
After the last words were cut off, and the doc died down. His disfigured face froze. The body, lifeless with squeezed juices, involuntarily fell to the blood-drenched floor. The patient looked through the glass at Skylar and said:
-They paid with their lives. We're even.
Then he turned away and tired and lame with a relieved gait, he went to the exit on the opposite side of the room in which Skylar was at the moment. Skylar's blood froze, as did her breathing.
'Before my eyes, a man who was just a cog in this sick mechanism has just died... I could have helped him, but I was scared... If it were not for my fear, one sane person would have survived. It's my fault...' ;-holding back tears, Skylar realized...
