Chapter 8- Meeting Faye
Finally, the lesson was over and I got my things ready before the teacher told us to leave. "All right you can go," she said.
I scrambled up off my seat and darted for the door. Natalie wouldn't be able to push me over this time; I wouldn't give her the advantage. Alex rushed after me.
"Will you tell me now?" He asked when he stepped out of the classroom.
"She said..." I started, but fell silent when I saw Natalie leaving the room.
Instead of just walking pass she stopped next to Alex, fiddling with her hair. Not in the shy nervous way, but in the flirty way. God, she's not gonna give up is she? I thought as she began to speak.
"Hi, I'm Natalie and I don't mind helping you find your next class," she said with a smile on her make-up caked face.
"No, it's fine. I think I know where it is, I'm sure I passed it on the way to here," Alex told her and the smile dropped from her face along with her hand from her hair.
"Oh, well if you ever need help finding anything just come find me, yeah?" She asked.
"Thanks, but no thanks. Ellie will show me around," he said.
"But you don't really want to be seen with her?" She wondered as she glared at me and then looked back at him. "I mean she's a loser. She'll ruin your reputation. You don't want to be making the wrong sort of friends," she added.
"I think I'm capable of making my own friends thank you and yes I do want to be seen with her. She's my best friend, so don't ever call her a loser or make her cry again. Understand me?" Alex stated as a smile formed on my face.
I was right. Of course Ellie. He's your best friend. He'd never leave you for someone so horrid,I thought to myself then looked at Natalie to say, "see told you I was friends with him."
She didn't reply, in fact her face was frozen in place and her eyes wide. "And I told you he wasn't interested, so just leave him alone," I added, loving how much she was tongue tide at the fact that Alex and I were friends.
Still she didn't know how to respond, so she just turned and walked away, but that was just for now. Once she had processed it more insults would be coming my way and she would try even harder to win Alex over with one of her evil schemes.
"Come on, I'll tell you on our way to our next classes," I told Alex and he nodded in agreement. The both of us then headed down the corridor.
"She said that I was pathetic and ugly but that's not what upset me. She reminded me, how she had gotten Luke to dump me and make him stop talking to me. How she dragged him away from me," I told him forcing myself not to cry again.
"That Luke was an idiot. If he dumped you just because she said something to him then that's down to him not her. He obviously couldn't see how brilliant and beautiful you are," Alex said.
"You think I'm beautiful?" I asked all hint of sadness disappearing from me.
"Eww, no. I was just trying to make you feel better," he joked with humours grin.
I pushed him gently and playfully. Then he pulled me into a hug. "Seriously though, you're brilliant and you aren't ugly. That Luke was an idiot because he was stupid to let a girl like you go," he told me and then let me go.
"You'll never let me go?" I wondered.
"Of course not, you're my best friend, but not like that. I don't like you like that," he replied.
"I know. I don't like you in that way either. I just love you, s a best friend," I told him.
"I love you too, as a best friend," he said.
"Alex," some girl screamed as she ran around the corner, with her group of friends. She headed straight to him arms out wide and then grabbed him, nearly causing him to fall over, but he didn't. Alex tried to pull away, but she clung to him tightly.
"Okay, so I guess you're a fan, but can you please let me go? I can give you an autograph if you want," Alex suggested but she didn't let go. Great, maybe she's one of those crazy fans. As I thought it the other girls surrounded him, pushing me out of the way making my assumptions correct.
"What's going on here?" A man's voice asked. I turned to the sound and I saw a tall, muscler man dressed head to toe in black make his way towards us and behind her was a girl. No, not just any ordinary girl, but Faye Lakes.
"All right girls move along. Get to class," the man ordered but they remained.
"Now or do I have to make you?" With that they all left him alone and headed down the corridor including the girl who had been clung to him.
"You too," he said turning to face me.
"It's okay, she's cool. She's my friend," Alex told him.
Faye stepped around her bodyguard and folded her arms across her chest. "Did your mum really send you to school without a bodyguard?" She asked a little too smugly.
"I didn't want one. I don't want someone constantly following me around at School, it's bad enough when shopping. Besides I wanna spend time with my friend alone, while here," he replied.
"Then you are an idiot. You're gonna get yourself hurt," she said.
"Why are you even here? You coming to school here?" Alex wondered.
"Eww, no, have you seen the place it's gross. I'm getting a private tutor while here. I'm just here to pick up some work that got sent here from my other school," she answered. Who does she think she is?
"Well see you later, Alex," she added and walked away. Her bodyguard followed after her, and Alex and I headed to our classes, which we were now late for.
