Chapter 3. Lily
So, how you could understand, Lily's life wasn’t as sweet as it should be, when you are 16, but she quickly got used to all of this. The hardest thing for her was to see the classmates with their families. Or to hear their complaints about parents.

"My parents are so bad. I am 16, and I still don’t have a car".

That moments Lily wanted to shout and say something just like that.

'At least you do have parents. You have someone to trust or to talk with. Who can make the brightest future for you.'

But all she could say was: 'Poor you'

Racy was the only person who tried to avoid "parent theme". Grace had the perfect family like in the magazines. There was no visible reason for Lily why Grace was her friend. She was the one cool girl who was smoking after school and changing boys like socks.

Grace and Lily were even in the same class, so they could share many things. It made them as close as it is possible.
'Hi, Lily. How is the most boring life going?'

'Hello, Mrs Humour. Just as usual. Mrs Gilbert is drunk again.'

'I thought that it was 1 year since she stopped drinking.'

'Actually, it was 3 months. And she has an anniversary this year. 5 years of drinking. I think Alice will never completely stop. Mr Gilbert will understand it one day, but it can be too late...'

'Poor, Mr Gilbert. He has so many problems because of them. Starting with Tony`s future university to Alice`s expensive lifestyle.'

'And I make this picture even worse because he has to pay for me either.'

'You are working and helping him. He knows it and appreciate that.'

  'Sorry, but you don`t understand.'

*School bell rings*

'We should hurry up. I don`t think Mrs Kent will wait for us.'

After school Lily had to go to her work place. It is called  "Lips" which is the worst name to a small café. Every day she is greeted by the optimistic Lucas.

'Hi, comrade. Get on the boat and I will show you something.'

'Aye, Lucas. So we have a pirate`s day. What can be better?'

'Your irony is the only thing that make me feel worse. What happened sweetheart?'

'I think I must change the job. I have low salary and new use of money called Mrs Asleen.'

'Are you going to a psychologist again? What has changed? I mean, you said that there is no point in visiting them.'

'I said so but if Mr Gilbert feels better when I`m sharing my struggles with someone, let it be. I don`t mind.'

'Lily, he is paying for you because he is your father. Not a biological one but the alive one.'

Lily became too upset even to smile to Lucas as she is doing daily. That`s the thing when a pessimistic person have to speak to an optimistic one. They have to pretend like they are "normal". However, they will never understand why do they have to pretend.

  'I... I didn`t mean it.'

'Lucas, I know. Don`t worry. I got used to it. Let’s return to our job.'

She made a small smile called "I am not okay" and went to the dressing room to change her outfit from the classic school uniform with a red tie, white shirt and blue trousers to a more pirate one.

'Lily, tomorrow is a great day, isn`t it?'

'Aye, Lucas. And you will definitely see me at 5 p.m. as usual.'

'I wish it was an irony.'
