Our Time Together
Hey it's me, Aaron. As you all know the long awaited day is upon us, and the date is well under way. You would have thought I would be as happy as one could get at this point, but I'm not... Instead I'm a nervous wreck! Not to mention that the date isn't going all that well... Olivia just ordered the cheapest item on the menu just because everything was too expensive and we can't even make small talk due to the loud-ass music playing in here! It's safe to say I've absolutely had it with this stupid shirt, too! I'm sweating bullets and I'm itchy all over my torso for crying out loud! I feel like fish out of water... And I'm pretty sure Olivia feels that way too. Maybe I should have listened to my sister... Wait, I'm going to teleport you back to reality just so you can see how bad things are.

New York, Queens

Oregano Italia

19:04

Inside the fancy Italian restaurant, loud music was being played by a number of musicians on a stage, as the customers loudly conversed with each other and the waiters were frantically running about in this hectic time of a Saturday evening.

"Does it taste good?" Aaron asked Olivia who turned to him with a perplexed expression.

"What?" She exclaimed while pointing at one of her ears.

"I said, does it taste good?!" The young man raised his voice while Olivia just cocked her head to the side and then shaked her head.

"No I don't want more food!" She said while raising her owm voice in an attempt to make Aaron hear her.

He heard her loud and clear though, unlike her. "No, I didn't say that!" He replied while shaking his head and internally facepalming.

"What?" She exclaimed yet again while Aaron furiously turned to the musicians going hard on their Italian music.

I swear to God I'm gonna get over there and put that fucking trumpet in your...

The young man took a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself down and picked up a piece of meat with his fork. In fact, he picked up the one and only piece of meat on his plate.

Is that supposed to be a meal or just a trailer to the actual plate I ordered?

He contemplated as he looked back at Olivia who was looking around nervously.

This isn't going well! What should I do?

She thought while locking eyes with Aaron before she looked away nervously.

What if he wants to leave? I don't want our day to end like this! Heck it hasn't even started yet... Not to mention those effing flats are hurting my heels...

She tried not to make a face while enduring the pain.

I knew I shouldn't have worn these...

I knew I shouldn't have worn this...

They both thought along the same lines.

This isn't going well... What should I do?

Aaron contemplated just like Olivia, only a few seconds short. He looked around and just when he was about to give up, he remembered a certain someone's words...

Dates are all about having fun...

That line flew around his mind as he reached a risky, conclusion. He raised his hand and summoned the waitress, in response to which Olivia widened her eyes. "Can I see the bill, please?" Aaron asked politely and the waitress nodded, bringing him the bill in a flash. "Thanks. Here." He said handing her around 40 dollars, as he payed for the entire table. All the while, Olivia was looking at him with the same void expression.

He gave up... It's over... We're just gonna go back home... And he even payed the whole bill!

She thought, almost on the verge of tears, her frustration raging inside her.

"Let's go, Olivia." Aaron said while walking up to her. She too got up and quietly followed.

They stepped out of the restaurant at once, and while Olivia's ears were at peace, her heart wasn't. She quietly turned around and walked towards the train station in which they came.

"Hey, where are you going?" Aaron asked as he turned on his heels.

"What?" She uttered in confusion.

"We're not going home just yet, silly!" The young man said with a smile.

"Really?!" Olivia's face quickly regained its rosy color as she instinctively smiled back.

"Of course! What did you think? There's no way we were gonna call it day!" Aaron reassured her while walking next to her.

"You're right..." She nodded, thinking of how silly those things she thought of were. Just because they were out on a date, it didn't mean that she didn't knew who was standing next to her. It was the same old Aaron.

"I've got a vague idea of what we're gonna do now... but first, what do you say we go back and change into something more comfortable? Those flats are clearly causing you pain." The young man noticed as Olivia nodded with a wry smile.

"Yeah, they really do, actually!" She exclaimed in a feat of complaint, but Aaron chuckled nonetheless. After all, she could finally be herself.

Outside Olivia's House

19:42

*knock knock*

Aaron knocked on Olivia's door which quickly opened, a pair of blue eyes staring back at him. "Hey, you ready?" Aaron asked as he looked at the girl in front of him.

"Yeah!" She replied with a smile, while wearing her black and white vans old-skool sneakers.

"You're probably the only one who can sport a cute dress and a pair of Vans at the same time." The young man commented with a chuckle.

"Hey!" She playfully punched his arm in response.

"Don't be late, kids!" Olivia's father voiced from inside the house.

"We won't!" Aaron replied while closing the door.

"You should have seen their reaction when I came back home! Their eyes looked like they were about to pop out!" Olivia commented as Aaron laughed.

"I wish I could have seen it!" Was his answer as he called for the elevator.

"Hey, I just changed a pair of shoes, while you did a whole 360!" The blonde girl voiced while looking her date up and down.

"Well I had to be myself... I mean this is more like me, right?" Aaron said while showing his clothes. He had worn a pink blush colored hoodie, alongside some blue jeans and a pair of Vans' that matched Olivia's "Besides, we're matching shoes now." Aaron said as Olivia giggled. "Oh that reminds me... this is for you." The young man voiced as he handed over a black hoodie. For a moment Olivia looked back and forth between the hoodie and Aaron before she quickly snatched it away. "In case you get cold..." He chuckled as they entered the elevator, while Olivia was on a world of her own, still clutching the hoodie to her chest.

...

"Where are we going?"

"You'll see..."

"Is it close?"

"Very"

...

"Are we there yet?"

"Yep we're here!"

"Where? Where?"

"Right here!" Aaron turned and pointed to a building full of machines and colorful led lights blinking on and off.

New York, Queens

Mitchell's Arcade

19:55

"No way! The arcade?!" Olivia exclaimed happily, as she peeked inside the building. "The fun is about to start!" Aaron announced as he took her hand and skipped inside the store.

"Wow! This is huge! Let's do that first!" Olivia said as she pointed at a zombie arcade game with a pair of guns attached to the screen.

"Your wish is my command." The young man replied as he walked up to the machine and put two coins on the slot, one for each of them. Aaron picked up a gun, and turned to look at the girl next to him, gesturing for her to do the same. She took a good look at their hands that were still clasped together and hesitantly let go, so she could pick up the red gun in front of her.

...

"Shoot it, Aaron!"

"Got it! Cover me!"

"Woah why are there so many!?"

...

"Retreat Olivia!"

"Oh no!"

"We're dead..." Aaron said while he hung his head.

"You should have killed that big one!" Olivia commented while crossing her arms.

"But he was too big for me to take him down! I mean look at the size of him!" Aaron pointed at the screen.

"What, you scared of a tall and fat zombie?" She taunted him.

"Hey that's just rude! Apologize!" He protested.

"You're right, I'm sorry."

"Not to me! Apologize to the zombie!" Aaron pointed at the screen yet again, to which they both laughed.

"Wait there's a VR horror game!" Olivia exclaimed in excitement yet again, dragging Aaron along with her.

...

"So we just wear these??" The young man inquires as he put on the headset.

"Yeah, I think so..." Olivia replied as she looked around through her own VR.

"But there's only one player slot..."
"Yeah, there's only one controller here too..." Olivia said as she picked up the item in question.

"Who should play, then?" Aaron asked, a question to which Olivia simply handed over the controller and edged closer to him.

"You're the man." Was all she said as she inserted a coin and the game booted up.

...

"Oli, do you see that?"

"What is it?"

"It looks like a girl..."

"Oh, yeah..."

"And she's moving... Oh she's gone..."

"Wait... Behind us!"

"Holy Hell!"

"Run, Aaron run! For the love of God just run!"

"AAAAAAAAHHHH!" They both let out a scream of terror as their enemy caught on to them, and the screen wrote "GAME OVER" with red bold letters.

"Well that was intense..." Olivia said while removing her headset.

"It sure was..." Aaron said trying to catch his breath. They soon both realized that Olivia had been hugging his arm the whole time, as they quickly jumped apart.

No wonder it felt harder to move...

He thought to himself as he got off the game booth they were inside.

...

"I know exactly what's next!" Aaron quickly perked up while they wandered around the arcade.

"What?" Olivia asked tilting her head to the side.

"Table Tennis." He smirked proudly as he guided her to the tables.

"Can I get 2 rackets and some balls, please?" Aaron said as he leaned on the tall counter of the arcade.

"Right away." The chubby and bald man behind the counter replied, handing over the items the teenager had requested.

...

"Ready to face the wrath of the ping pong king?" Aaron said while bouncing a ball on his racket.

"Bring it on, amateur!" Olivia didn't give in to his taunt as she cracked her neck and knuckles.

...

"Ha!"

"Take this!"

"Remember! The loser has to pay!"

"What?!"

"Ha! An opening!" Aaron strikes one past Olivia, signaling the end of the game.

"See? I told you I'm the king!" He said while walking over to her.

"You cheater!!!" Olivia exclaims as she taps away at his chest with her fists, while Aaron bursts out laughing.

"I can teach you, if you want!" He said with a smirk to which Olivia responded by showing him her tongue.

"I don't need help from cheaters!" She scoffs before they both break out into a hearty laugh.

"Hey boss, we're done here. How much is it?" Aaron asked while walking over to the counter.

"It's exactly 8..." The man behind the counter replied, passing him the receipt.

"Here, thanks a bunch." Aaron said while handing him a 10 dollar bill and pocketing the change.

"Didn't you say the loser has to pay?" Olivia looked at him with narrowed eyes.

"That was just a joke... besides, if the loser actually had to pay then I would actually be a cheater!" He replied as Olivia giggled.

"You're still a cheater!" She playfully held out her tongue to him once again.

"Oh no! Whatever should I do for you to forgive me?" Aaron said dramatically as he brought a hand to his forehead and made a pose.

"I know!" He quickly straightened up and walked up to yet another piece of machinery.

"Pick one, milady." He bowed comically, gesturing to the hook toy machine before him.

"I don't really want... Oh that one! That blue elephant in the back is so cute!" She practically jumped like a spring when she noticed the stuffed toy in question.

"Ah! A worthy challenge!" Aaron said as he bowed yet again and tossed a coin in the slot. Wasting no time, he quickly moved the joystick and masterfully caught the blue toy on the far corner.

"YES!" They both cheered as it fell onto the hole and through the gap on the machine's exterior. Aaron swiftly took a hold of the plushy and handed it over to Olivia, which she accepted with rosy cheeks. A small silence ensued, before a growling sound broke it off. "That was me..." The blonde girl announced as she looked away embarrassed, while Aaron chuckled.

"Let's go get something to eat." He proposed as he took her hand yet again and walked outside the arcade.

"What should we name him?" Olivia asked as she looked at the elephant toy in her arms.

"Aaron Junior!"

"No that would just be weird!"

"Okay, then... Olivia Junior!"

"That doesn't even make sense! And it's clearly a male!"

"Then let's name him..."

"Puff."

"Yeah! That kinda suits him, you know. Puff it is then."

New York, Queens

Luigi's Queen Pizza

22:19

"Woaah! I'm stuffed!" Olivia exhaled as she leaned back on her seat.

"Told you this pizza is amazing!" Aaron said proudly as he imitated her and leaned back himself.

"Excuse me, can we pay up here?" Olivia said as she called for the waiter, who came almost instantly, since there was no else in the small corner shop which he worked.

"One large pepperoni and one large special, it's exactly 14$ please." The waiter announced as both of the teenagers took out their wallets to pay. "Hey! You've already paid everything so far so it's only fair I pay for the pizza." Olivia protested with a glare.

"Nah I'm not having it, Oli." Aaron shrugged with a smirk.

"Here."

They both said at the same time while handing their money to the waiter.

"Hahah... I think you should talk it through..." The waiter said having been put in quite the awkward position.

"Puff, tell him off!"

"No Puff, tell HER off!"

They glared at each other with narrowed eyes.

"Oh I know, we should do rock paper scissors!" Aaron proposed as he stood up.

"Bring it on!" Olivia replied while rolling up her sleeve.

"Rock Paper Scissors!" "Rock Paper Scissors!"

The teenagers voiced at the same time as they threw out their hands. Olivia had scissors while Aaron had paper, resulting in a clear win for the teenage girl.

"YES!"
"NOOOO!"

New York, Queens

Darwin Park

23:02

"I won Puff, can you believe it?" Olivia said with a grin reaching up to her ears as she held the toy with both arms.

"You're still going on about that..." Aaron said after a defeated sigh, as they strolled around a big park in a not so crowed park just a little ways from the center of Queens. Normally, the more central you were, the more people you'd find, but it appeared this place was the exception to that very rule. They walked further into the big park, with only the moon and some lamps above their heads to illuminate their path.

"Hey, what's that?" Olivia pointed at a small canteen truck parked just next to the artificially lit lake.

"Cotton candy!" Aaron said as he walked up to the canteen with a spring in his step and picked up a pair of cotton candy, of course after he payed for them.

...

"I swear you're gonna end up broke..." Olivia said as she chewed at her cotton candy, while sitting on a bench next to Aaron.

"Yeah, well at least your mom will cook for me if that happens." He replied with a smirk as they both chuckled at his remark.

"Ahh..." "Ahh..." They both let out a content sigh as they rested their backs on the bench.

"I wish we could do this every day..."Olivia said out loud, without her realizing, to which Aaron smiled warmly.

"Exactly my thoughts..." He commented as he took a bite out of his own cotton candy, as Olivia gulped at the realization her thoughts slipped right between her lips.

"Hey I know this is kinda sudden... But what do you wanna be when you grow up?" Aaron asked as he turned to face her.

"I actually wanna be a doctor." She voiced with a tight smile while looking up at the night sky.

A doctor, huh?

Aaron thought to himself while picturing Olivia on a doctor's uniform, smiling wide and tending to patients, with her unwavering kindness.

"I think it suits you."

"You think?"

"Uhm actually no..."

"Oh..."

"I'm certain."

"Dummy!" She playfully hits his arm with a grin.

"I prefer dum-dum, though." Aaron commented as he got off the bench and leaned against the railing in front of the lake, while simultaneously finishing his cotton candy.

"Oh excuse me, then." She plays along while faking a gasp.

"What do YOU wanna be when you grow up?" Olivia posed the exact the same question on him, continuing to wolf down her cotton candy.

"I don't know, yet... But I need to figure it out sooner or later." He shrugs in response as the gentle wind blew past them, and Olivia tugged lightly on the warm hoodie she had been wearing all this time.

I can't possibly reveal my secret identity to her...

"Hey Aaron..." The blonde girl uttered in a low voice as she got up from the bench and stood just a few steps behind him.

"Why did you want to ask me out yourself, while I had already accepted your invitation for today?" Olivia enquired, a content smile playing on her lips.

"Because I realized that you're important to me. And I wanted to be brave enough to ask you while looking straight into your eyes. Only then would I have been ready to go out with you." Aaron explained as Olivia giggled lightly.

"What's so funny?" He turned around with a smile.

"Nothing... You're just important to me, too is all..." She voiced softly while walking next to him, and resting her head on his shoulder. Aaron quickly got the message and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, while they both turned to the dimly lit lake in front of them.

...

"It's getting late, wanna go home?" Aaron proposed as he looked at the Wraith Watch strapped on his wrist (Believe it or not, it actually shows the time like a real watch!)

"Oh shoot you're right!" Olivia realized as she broke away from the hug. As soon as she realized her face dropped a little but quickly regained her hearty grin.

"You're still not finished with that thing?" Aaron points at the cotton candy in her hands as they start walking back.

"Yeah, I'm a slow eater!" She scoffed.

"You sure wolfed down that large pepperoni pizza in a matter of seconds, though."

"But I was hungry!"

"Correction: You're a slow eater EXCEPT when you're hungry! Somebody write that down!"

"HEYYYYYY!"

"Oops don't mind me!" Aaron said as he took a bite out of her fluffy dessert.

"Hey! Go get your own!" Olivia puffed out her cheeks in complaint

"But I paid for it!" He replied with a chuckle.

"GRRRRRR!" But the teenage girl just growled at him, like a lion threatening its prey.

"Oh no Puff she's gonna attack me! Run!" Aaron said while running off

"Hey come back here! Puff's mother needs to have a word with you!" Olivia chuckled while chasing after him in the dimly lit park.

"Goodnight..."

"Goodnight..." They both said to each other at Olivia's doorstep as they parted ways for the day.

"Hey Olivia." Aaron called out to her as soon as she turned around.

"Yeah?"

"Take good care of Puff, alright?" He grinned as he went up the stairs.

"Roger..." She saluted like a soldier before stepping inside her house.

"You're back!" Her mom voiced as soon as she noticed her daughter's presence.

"How did it go?" Her father asked, while gulping audibly...

Aaron stepped inside his house, and locked the door back up, before throwing his keys on the kitchen counter, and sliding down with his back against the door.

Turns out it you don't have to go to a fancy restaurant and pay loads of money in order to have a successful date...Whether it's an Italian restaurant, the arcade, or just a small corner pizza store, it's the person you're with that makes all the difference...

He sighed in pure bliss before saying "This was..."
