After what turned out to be one of the best days of my life, I decided to dive neck-deep into work. And by work I mean superhero work. Well, at least I should have. I sent all the data I gathered back to the police chief, and waited for my queue to act. But I was put on standby instead! Chief Monroe said something along the lines of "we can't act just yet..." and left it at that. After being put on standby in the Frenzied Werewolf case, I got put on standby on the Crane case as well! I'm currently pacing about in my room... The reason for that is...

Aaron's Apartment

"I'm actually going on a date!" Aaron shouted out to himself, as he stopped walking up and down in his room. "...Well I know I've been on a date with Olivia before but now it's... kinda different. I mean we're actually dating now..." He started walking again, albeit a little slower than earlier, as he stroked his chin in thought.
Wait! Before you jump to conclusions, no I'm not neglecting my duties! Let me show you what really happened...
A few days earlier...
"Uhm... Is that Dr. Steinn?" Aaron spoke awkwardly, clutching his phone right next to his ear.
"Why do you sound like a lost child, Aaron?" The scientist replied with an "I've already had enough of you" tone.
"Well the thing is... I'm kinda in a relationship now..." He spoke as if he had to just get it over with.
"You're what?!"
...
After he explained everything to him (Of course leaving the juicy stuff out) Aaron brought forth the actual reason he was calling.
"You want to go on a date?" Steinn repeated after the young man, sipping some coffee from his Einstein mug. (Seriously doesn't he have any other mugs?)
"Yes, sir!" The teenager saluted like a soldier behind the phone.
"Hmmm..." The scientist hummed in thought as Aaron clasped his palms together in a sort of prayer-like motion. "Permission granted." After hard speculation on his part Steinn spoke before taking another sip of his coffee, with an audible "slurp".
"Yes! Thank you so much, Dr. Steinn! I will work extra hard from now on, I promise!" Aaron pumped his fist in the air as he addressed the scientist and nodded a couple of times to himself.
And that was basically what happened... You get it now, right? Aaron Beckett ain't no slacker!
"Oh shoot it's that late already?! I better go meet up with Olivia!" Aaron said as he looked at himself through the mirror one last time and struck a pose to boost his self-confidence. "Are you lost, baby girl?" He said in a deep voice but quickly shook his head. "Nah, that was BEYOND creepy!" The teenager shuddered from his own words (that takes some talent to do) and fixed the red and black checkered over-shirt he was wearing. The said shirt was unbuttoned and beneath it he was wearing a plain white T-shirt. After making sure everything on that front were okay he patted his light blue ripped jeans and wore his classic white leather sneakers in order to head out. Before doing so, he grabbed a backpack that was sitting next to the front door and locked the door behind him.
The lightly dressed teenager stepped into the elevator and pushed the button for the ground floor, as the relaxing music made its way from the speakers to his ears. As he relaxed his shoulders he remembered the earlier conversation he had with Olivia.
She told me she wanted to meet at the train station so the date would feel more real... But I don't really get it. Then again, it feels kinda different leaving the flat without her when I'm actually planning to meet her. But hey, if it makes my girlfriend happy, then who am I to argue?
And with those thoughts and a happy-go-lucky grin on his face he left the building and made for their meeting spot.

Aaron glanced at the time in his phone, as he leaned further back on a railing that reached up to his waist. "She should be here any minute now..." He muttered to himself and raised his gaze from his phone, quickly spotting the girl he had on his mind. "Bingo." He straightened his outfit and smiled as Olivia quickly hastened her step and closed the distance between them.
"Bear hug!" She shouted as if it was the name of a secret technique and hugged Aaron from the side. "Hey, that your new skill?" He chuckled as he returned the embrace and brought his hand over her shoulder.
"Hehe I unlocked it as I leveled up!" She played along with his pun as she wrapped her hands around his arm. "Shall we get going, then?" He proposed and she nodded, as they started walking to their destination.
Not long after they started walking, they reached the spot for their date. A big park full of greenery. Not wasting a moment, Olivia took out the big red and white blanket she brought, from her bag and they spread it along the grass together before they removed their shoes and sat down.
"I haven't been on a picnic for ages!" Aaron said as he looked around to the kids playing and enjoying themselves along their families.
"And now that you've got a beautiful girlfriend, I'm sure you'll have plenty more chances for it!" She playfully winked, making him chuckle a little.
Beautiful girlfriend....
These words floated inside his head as he looked her up and down. They were really close earlier so he didn't have a chance to look, but now he just realized how cute she looked in her outfit. She was wearing a white long-sleeved blouse that reached just over the highest part of her black skirt that matched the black sandals that she had just taken off. Her earlobes were shining from the small circular earrings she wore as she tucked a blonde strand of hair behind her ear.
Honestly, beautiful is an understatement! With this girl as my girlfriend I probably exhausted 10 years' worth of luck in one go!
"Why are you staring?" Olivia wore a mischievous smile, the kind she uses when she's in a teasing mood.
"Uhm..." Aaron quickly retreated his gaze elsewhere as he was caught off guard.
No soldier! You can't back down!
The voice inside his head gave him a mental pep talk and the teenager quickly returned his gaze back at her face.
"No! I shall use the rights that I rightfully earned when the title of "boyfriend" was bestowed upon me! I will not waver!" Aaron raised his chin proudly as he crossed his arms.
"What rights were we talking about?" The blonde girl asked as she rummaged through her bag.
"But what else, the right of staring at my girlfriend of course!" The teenager replied overdramatically blowing the subject way out of proportion, winning over a cute laugh from Olivia in the process.
"Okay okay, I'm not revoking any of your rights, don't worry." She continued with a smile as she brought forth two plastic boxes from her bag, one colored pink and the other blue. Upon realizing what that meant, Aaron gasped dramatically.
"Don't tell me..." He held his breath as Olivia nodded proudly. "You..." He gulped before continuing. "You made me a lunch box?!" Aaron exclaimed with sparkling eyes.
"Hehe, and you thought I couldn't cook, didn't you?" She said, her proud smile always present on her face.
Olivia's cooking! A blessing from the heavens indeed!
"Thank you, thank you!" Aaron grabbed the blue box like an overjoyed kid and opened it, causing the fresh aroma to waft out of the plastic container. Inside the box were sitting three pieces of sliced tortilla wraps filled with cheese fresh grilled chicken and veggies with a pink dressing sauce, and next to them three crunchy cheeseballs.
I don't care if this looks childish I'm so in for it that I can't freaking wait!
Aaron grabbed the plastic disposable fork and pinched a cheeseball and carefully brought it to his mouth. Soon a smile full of bliss spread across his face as he closed his eyes contentedly. Right after he took a bite out of a tortilla and felt his brain melting in the process. "THIS. IS. AWESOME!!!" He shouted at the sky like a protagonist who just beat the final boss. On the other hand Olivia laughed with a blush on her face in response to his reaction.
"Sorry if it's too plain. I'll make something more complicated next time." She said as she took a bite out of her own food.
"You kidding?! I'm in heaven!!" The teenager continued to make weird sounds after every bite as he savored his meal.
...
After finishing their meal, Aaron quickly regained his composure as he wiped his mouth with a napkin.
"Now that we're done eating..." Olivia folded her hands over her knees with a serious tone in her voice. "...It's time to get real." She continued as Aaron looked at her and nodded. Suddenly the atmosphere got tense as the girl cleared her throat. "Have you brought the... stuff?" She asked with a dead serious look, as if she was some kind of shady dealer.
"Yes ma'am, I have." Aaron replied in the same tone as he reached for his backpack and Olivia followed suit. The item that they both pulled out of their bags was none other than... a handheld console.
HEY DON'T JUDGE! GAMERS CANNOT FIGHT THEIR NATURE!
"Are you ready to embark on this quest, comrade?" Olivia didn't lose the seriousness in her tone as she booted up her yellow gaming console.
"Hm! But of course, we shall catch them all!" Aaron fixed his non-existent glasses with his index finger and exclaimed dramatically like some cool anime character.
"Yay, let's go!!" The girl finally cheered like one, as they quickly got ready to embark on their quest of catching wild Pokeman.
...
"Hey Olivia I think that's a rare one!" Aaron beckoned her over, as he pointed at his screen. Soon, the girl who was searching behind a tree reached him and looked over.
"You're right!" She exclaimed as she aimed her console upwards.
The game that they were playing was pretty much a copy of something that came out some years back. It's a sort of hunting game where you catch cute little creatures with cubes and train them to fight. It requires you to switch on the location of your device and only by moving around areas real time can you actually find and catch them. Real life areas like parks even have some rare finds in them, thus the reason for their little excursion.
Believe it or not, it was Olivia's idea!
"Did you get it?" Aaron asked as he looked over her shoulder.
"Ye-Ohhhhh!" Suddenly Olivia exclaimed in utter disbelief as she saw a legendary species walk by her.
"What? What?" The young man quickly caught on as he looked around.
"That was a Diolga!!! Come on!" Olivia explained briefly while she grabbed his wrist and dragged him behind her.
"Where is it, where is it?" They looked around in a daze as their whole attention shifted to the screen of their consoles.
"I think it-Woaaahh!" The girl tripped over a tree branch as she was looking at the device in her hands and easily dragged the young man whose hand she was holding down the steep slope with her. They almost fell on their faces as they rolled and rolled down the soft grass.
"Hey, Olivia are you okay?" Aaron asked as soon as their rolling stopped.
'Yeah I think I'm okay... Did you get hurt?" She said as she sat up, while Aaron was lying next to her.
"Nope. Everything's fine." The teenager replied as he patted his shirt a couple times. Soon, they made eye contact and a silence hung in the air for a mere 2 seconds before they both realized what just happened and burst out laughing.
"Ahhh... I can't believe we fell over a Diolga!" Olivia let out a content sigh before commenting on their fall.
"I think that's enough Pokeman hunting for a day... This little guy here can't take any more falls over legendary species!" Aaron waved his green console around in his hand making Olivia chuckle. He soon got up and extended a hand to her, offering to help her up. She of course welcomed the help, and gripped his palm, but instead of getting up she noticed that Aaron was leaning over too much and dragged him down with her. Both of them fell on the green grass yet again, this time somewhat deliberately. Olivia fell on her back giggling and Aaron was holding himself up right above her face, a warm smile spreading across his face.
"W-Why are you looking at me like that...?" She said underneath her breath as she caught on his stare and smile. She quickly blushed up to her ears while gripping his forearm which was right next to her face.
"I just thought I wanted to do this..." He said in a soft tone as they joined their lips together lightly. Soon the kiss turned more passionate but he pulled away and got to his feet, helping her up in the process. "Come on there's somewhere I wanna take you!" Aaron took the hand of a still blushing Olivia and dragged her out of the park, with a tone full of energy.
"Oh no he's gonna kidnap me!" She said with a playful smirk.
"I bet you'd love that!" Aaron replied with sassiness producing yet another laugh out of Olivia.
New York, Queens
Sunshine Beach
19:45
"Why here of all places?" Olivia asked as she looked at the orange tinted sky. The sun was already kissing the horizon, its glow slowly diminishing by the minute, making the sea across her view look all the more beautiful.
Aaron was fidgeting with his phone behind her muttering to himself as she turned to face him. "Whatcha doing?" She skipped over to him but he quickly nodded and stuffed the phone in his pocket. A soft and familiar melody coming from it made its way to their ears.
"I believe I owe you a dance, milady." He bowed softly and Olivia looked at him, eyes wide open. "Look I know sound quality's not that good but we'll have to make do." He continued with a shrug as she let out a chuckle and stepped closer.
"I don't mind one bit, kind gentleman."
"Then... will you do me the honor?" Aaron asked extending his hand.
"But of course..." Olivia played along, gracefully taking his extended hand.
They soon started swaying to the rhythm, his hand around her waist, and hers around his neck.
And darling I
Will be loving you,
Till we're seventy....
The lyrics softly echoed through the beach as the two swayed back and forth.
And baby my heart
Could still fall as hard
At twenty-three
"Sorry but that's all I could think of... It may be kinda lame..." Aaron said while looking away slightly.
"It's far from lame..." She replied softly while resting her head against his chest.
And I'm thinking about how
People fall in love in
Mysterious Ways
"Still we'll do this properly one day... I promise." He said firmly tightening his grip around her.
"I'll take you up on that promise then." Olivia smiled contentedly.
...Well me, I fall in love
With you every single day...
Just being this close to her can make me forget about everything... I really am in love with this girl...
The song continues to play as the two teenagers hold each other firmly and move along the sand.
As the song reaches the refrain Olivia instinctively looks up and meets his eyes.
Game. Set. Match.
Aaron thinks to himself as he leans closer to her face and connect his lips with hers.
"I love you..." A hushed whisper escapes her lips but Aaron catches on immediately.
"I love you too..." He whispers back as their faces instantly flush red and they reluctantly separate at the end of the song.
"Shall we get back?" Aaron says while stretching his arms.
"Now that we're here, I wanna try something..." Olivia taps her chin in thought.
"Like what?"
"You know in those romantic movies how they ran barefoot on the beach?" Olivia explains and Aaron nods reluctantly.
"Let's try it!" She exclaims eagerly bobbing her head up and down.
"Hmmm, I don't know about that..." He narrows his eyes as he thinks it over.
"Come oooon!" She says while removing her sandals and putting them aside.
"It will be a pain if I got sand on my shoes you know..." Aaron tries to weasel out of the situation but Olivia grins mischievously after spotting an opening in his defenses.
"Gotcha!" She quickly snatches the phone he's holding in his hands and shows off her tongue in a taunting manner before taking off in the opposite direction.
"Heh... You little thief come back here!" Aaron chuckles to himself as he runs after her almost immediately.
"You're never gonna catch me!"
"We'll see about that!"
"Noo leave me aloneee!"
"Now you're gonna witness MY secret technique!"
Happy voices and cries fill the empty beach as the two teenagers enjoy their little outing to the fullest.
