The next morning I started helping Ryan find a job, he's a software engineer so that would be quite hard to find, I looked through newspapers,mailed out resumes to different employers,asked a couple of friends and still got nothing.Days went by and still there was no luck, I started losing hope but surprisingly luck came knocking on the door, a mutual friend saw this article about a job search which was related to Ryan's profession so it was a great opportunity for him to take it.I told him about it and without any hesitation he went for the interview, I was anxiously waiting for him at the house while babysitting Melissa, after long hours of waiting he came back and he didn't seem too happy,my face dropped thinking he didn't get the job, I held Melissa's hand and crossed my fingers on the other hand as I asked him, "so.... What happened?" there was a moment of silence for a while then he dropped the bombshell, "I got a job!!!!!" we all jumped up and down in excitement and I was relieved, he gave me a pec and hugged me tightly and then that feeling came back again,my heart was beating fast and I could feel his heart beating fast too, it felt so hot and we both quickly pulled away he then went to his daughter and spinned her around.


"I'm so glad that you got the job," "I'm glad too but most of all I'm thankful to you, if it weren't for you I wouldn't have" before he could finish his sentence I interrupted him, "it weren't for me, you weren't just looking in the right places," (as I chuckled) he held my hand, looked me in my eyes and said "no seriously, I don't know what I could have done without you," that feeling came back again and we were both lost in each other's eyes till Melissa broke the silence, "daddy are we going to go out?" "yes sweetheart, we will go out and have some fun" "can Becca come too, please" I said, "ummm honey I I," then Ryan interrupted, "Melissa won't be able to make it today," "but it won't be so much fun without her, please let Becca come with us pleeeease" "OK, I will come with you," as much as I was uncomfortable spending time with Ryan I couldn't say no to Melissa.

Later that evening I told my mom I was going to study at Tessa's place so she let me go, I secretly met up with Melissa and Ryan and we all went to the aquarium, we had such a fun time  but I was perturbed that we could kiss again so I tried to be around Melissa most of the time. Even though there were a few awkward moments I'm glad that the night ended well and we didn't end up kissing.

It was Thursday and I was so perturbed about what the final hearing will be concerning Melissa's custody, Tessa could tell that something was bothering me but I wasn't going to tell her anything. I couldn't wait for school to be over and what seemed like eternity came to an end, I received Ryan's call and I was so exultant to hear the good news, he won the custody and now things looked like they were going in the right direction for him. He got a job, he got custody of his daughter it was all perfect.

My 18th birthday was coming in two weeks and I was so excited about it,mom had already started making plans for it and Tessa had already started inviting people. "I don't know why you're not taking this seriously, I mean your birthday is just around the corner and you're doing nothing about it," Tessa said. I'm not much of a party person so that didn't matter to me, all I wanted was to have a good time with the people I love." what do you want me to do? "I said as I put a sliced pineapple in my mouth," I'm sure you and mom have collaborated to throw a party for me"Tessa scoffed then said, "whaaaat," "you do it all the time so don't act dumb with me, I know what you're up to"I told Ryan about the party and I was hoping he could come.
