Україно, я тебе пам'ятаю вже тоді, коли ти незалежною була, Та яка ж тонка твоєї душеньки струна, Ти молода, квіткова, барвінкова і красива, На твоїй вишитій сорочці світиться слово "сила", Читала я про твою історію у багатьох книжках, Вона увіковічнена у рушниках, Написана руками великих геніїв-поетів, Звучиш ти піснями солов'їних злетів, Україно, ти пам'ятаєш кянгиню Ольгу, Володимира Великого, Ярослава Мудрого, Хмельницького, Мазепу, Сірка, Ти пам'ятаєш Шевченка, Лесю, Стуса, Тичину, Франка, Розстріляне відродження ти досі пам'ятаєш, Як затягти рани від воєн та Голодомору вже не знаєш, Де лишилися сліди страшних ворожих атак, Виросла червона квітка - мак, І ти зробила з цих квітів вінок, Та додала чорнобривців ніжних пелюсток, Ти й досі втрачаєш і не знаходиш слів, Щоб оплакати своїх найкращих доньок і синів, Та ти весь свій час йшла світло і хотіла, Щоб тобі проспівали "Ще не вмерла Україна...".
