Chapter 10 - Will You Come?
The fire crackled in the fireplace. There was no other sound in the room. Red and Amelia laid on the couch, eyes closed with smiles on their faces. Amelia slowly got up and sat up on the sofa. Red joined her. She stood up and walked over to pick up her dress, quickly dressing it. Red looked at her the entire time. He then stared out the window, the darkness still covered the land but the storm was nowhere in sight,
"Coffee?",
The sudden question from Amelia averted Red's eyes towards her. She stood by a metal stove holding two wooden mugs,
"I'd love some" he replied,
Red then stared back at the fire and then down at the table in front. Except for the already noticed bandages and bottle, her black book laid there closed. He looked at it for a second and them quickly glanced over to Amelia,
"You're an Exiled!",
Amelia stopped in shock. She was holding the coffee mug waiting for the coffee to heat up. She looked down and asked,
"What gave it away?",
"Miracles, Spells. While both can be used by the same person, they'd have to have Royal training. But Pyromancy, that's a rare trait, even for Magicians or Clerics",
Amelia placed a cheeky smile on her face "You noticed?",
"The fire has been burning all the same since I've entered your home and not a single piece of wood has been touched or even seen in sight",
The coffee reached almost boiling point so Amelia took it out of the stove and poured some into the two cups. She added two small spoons of sugar to each and stirred them. Then grabbed them both and walked over to Red, slowly walking on the wooden floor, she had a sad look come over her. Amelia reached Red and handed over his cup. He reached up with his right hand and gently took it from her. Amelia sat down on the sofa, she placed the cup on the table in front and then joined her hands while bowing her head,
"So... what now? Are you gonna call the Royal Guard? Or perhaps the Emperor himself?" Amelia asked with worry,
Suddenly Red burst into laughter "Hahaha no! Why would you even suggest that?",
Amelia was hit with shock and surprise from his reaction,
"But you know what I am...",
"Listen, if I reported every Exiled I've ever met in my life, I would be at a loss with a lot of friends. Savanna herself is containing over 20 of them",
Amelia absolutely stunned looked at him with excitement "There's that many still alive?",
"Yeah, they even set up a school to teach young Wizards, Clerics and Pyros",
Amelia's face lit up with enjoyment but quickly dissipated shortly after,
"But the war...",
A few moments of silence went by before a sudden though pop into Red's head,
"Wait! Maria she-",
"Hehe its fine, she's asleep. I've placed a soundproof barrier and a healing spell in her room so nothing could ever disturb her" Amelia cut in with a smile,
"Is she one as well?",
"No no no, she's with me training to be an alchemist",
"At such a young age?" Red spoke with shock,
Amelia stopped and stared behind Red in the direction of Maria's room, she then looked at the fire,
"Its what she wanted to do",
Red looked at Amelia realizing there was something more to the story but didn't try to pry for it,
"Well I guess the storm has settled, so I should be on my way" Red said while standing up,
"Wait!" Amelia said loudly,
Reds suddenly looked at her and realized there was hesitation in her words, a question she wanted to get out but to scared to say,
"Amelia, would you and Maria like to accompany me?",
Suddenly Amelia looked at him with surprise. She didn't ask but that's what she wanted,
"I'm heading towards Savanna, I need to meet an old friend. If you'd like you can join me until we get there and then I could introduce you to some Exiles I know",
"But, wouldn't we impose?",
"Course not! Long journeys are best enjoyed with company!" Red replied with an innocent smile,
Amelia stared at him, confidence suddenly took over her heart. She was in love, with a man she didn't know for more than a few hours. She then stood up and spoke softly,
"Well, I'd love to join you, but...",
Red quickly lost his smile,
"But?",
"Maria..." Amelia said concerned,
"She'd be training with Master Class Alchemists, using items, herbs and other trinkets only found in Elven Society",
Amelia looked down "I'd like to discuss it with her first if that's okay",
"Of course, I'm not forcing anything upon you. I merely suggested" Red responded backing up a little,
"Thank you",
A moment went by before Red said anything,
"Maybe it's time for some sleep",
"I agree, would you like to sleep in my room? I'll sleep with Maria",
"That's very kind" he replied,
Amelia showed Red to her room. Opening the door, Red peered inside. It was full of books piled up all the way to the ceiling, ingredients placed in pots all around, the aroma inside however was fresh and sweetened. Amelia walked in first and lit a candle on a wooden stand by the bed. Red walked in after,
"I know its a mess, I'm sorry",
"No need to apologize, its your room after all",
Amelia gave a small chuckle and headed towards the door. She walks out and slowly shut it behind her, but just before the door closed she stopped,
"Thank you" she said with kindness in her voice,
Red didn't reply as the door shut quickly after. He was left staring at it from within the dark room,
"For what I wonder?" He said to himself,
"Coffee?",
The sudden question from Amelia averted Red's eyes towards her. She stood by a metal stove holding two wooden mugs,
