Tessa says, "Boe and Cloe said you need help. Spit it out, Thomas.".

I mutter, "Hostile much.".

She rolls her eyes, "Come on, let's go to the library smartie.".

I bite my lip, the weight of my backpack slightly comforting. We walked down the halls towards the library, a road we had walked down before. Stop it, Thomas! Stop being so damn sappy!!

I opened the door for her and Tessa sighed. A soft, sad smile inched onto her face. My heart sunk in my chest, my lungs finding it hard to breathe.

I really let myself look at her. She's beautiful... But she's changed so much... I've hurt her...

My hand reaches out to touch her, but I stop it inches from her hair. I quickly take back my hand, making it stay at my side.

The shards of my heart beat painfully in my chest.

I let her lead the way through the maze of bookshelves.

I watch her golden curls bouncing with her every step.

I watch her small hands skate across the books as she goes, delicate and pale. There's longing in that touch, a longing I understand.

She seemed to use the books as a cane, something to help her keep going. But it also weakens her. She can only clutch her cane for so long before she needs to learn to walk on her own.

Like a bird, whose wing is broken, and needs to learn to fly again.

When did I become a poet?

I smile to myself, laughing sadly at my broken sense of humor.

I hate the empty shell I have become. I hate how I still have feelings for Tessa. I hate how I still love her. I hate her, and I don't hate her.

She sits down at the table, and I take a walk down memory lane. We had had fun at this table. Here in this library our love had grown, prospering into something beautiful.

Until... I made a mess of things.

"You found me, Thomas!". ..... "I always will!".

My hand hanging stupidly on my cheek where she kissed me that night after her uncle's funeral.

Me looking at the watch she bought me, seeing the words I love you written on it.

Her smiling and pointing at her face, saying, "Happy tears.".

Me making her laugh when I patted my feet.

Me saying, "You're so beautiful when you laugh.".

The chair falls as she burst out of it, arms were thrown towards me. She laughs "Thomas!". Kissing me, always kissing me.

Her calling me Hollywood.

The old shop keeper laughs, "Well, it must be a special someone for you to take time to get a gift for then.".

I whisper, "She is.".

Tessa looks at me, eyebrow raised, "You okay?".

I shake my head, "No, but I will be.".

While in the back of my mind, a little voice says one thing over and over. Kiss her, kiss her, kiss her!
