You're With Him
Your new boyfriend sucks! If he hurts you, I'll kill him.
He does all the things I use to do. Kiss Tessa on the cheek. Hold her hand in the halls. Hug her close to him. Push Tessa's hair behind her ear just so he can see her blush. Even listens while she talks about books.
Yah, I'll kill him just because I want to.
I watch him lean in for another kiss in the hall. My chest tightened, my breathing stopped. Tessa wraps her arms around his neck, letting him.
I swear he's doing this on purpose. The guy is smiling!
I look at her, looking to see if she's happy. That's all that matters to me.
I see melancholy baby blues, the ones that use to light up and sparkle. Her hair still frames her face, showing she's not eating as much as she used to. But what worries me the most is the fake smile that she says is a real one.
I can't tell what she's thinking. Thought I can tell she tries to put on a brave face.
Like she said before, she continued meeting me in the library for tutoring.
But seeing her there reminds me of laughter, and kisses, and her when she was mine.
So I try to hang back and let her move on. It rips my heart apart and hurts me soul deep. Nothing is fixing this jigsaw puzzle.
I see her talk with her friends, and think that she will be alright.
Then Richie puts his arm around her shoulder, smiling down at her.
I feel the inferno of hate and despair ignite in my chest. I watch her laugh at something he said, that fake grin filling her face.
Fine, Richie, kiss her and love her. I still love her more.
