Surprise
School the next morning seems to welcome me back. I smile, feeling the weight of what's in my backpack. I can't wait to see Tessa's face when she sees what I got her. I got to her locker and looked around. I put the combo in, yeah I'm a stalker, let's move on. Who makes 1-2-3 a locker combination? They're just asking for it!

I slide the note and put the box I had in her locker. I close it and run, not caring to lock the locker up first. I hid behind the corner, waiting for those baby blues and Hollywood curls.

Tessa got to her locker, her face the entity of joy. Her smile grew as she opened it and saw what was inside.

I watched her peel the paper off, slowly and agonizingly. Her eyes widened as she saw the book. She opened the letter and her smile grew, touching her lips, as she read. She turned to page twenty and saw the bookmark necklace I got her.

Satisfied with a job well done, I hugged my backpack closer and walked to class.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I practically skip to the library, my grin growing bigger as I get closer. I open the door, walking passed bookcase after bookcase.

It's then I see her, and boy what a sight she was.

Her face was open and deep, looking at the book in her hands intently. Her fingers caressed the page before turning it with care. Hollywood curls crept over her flannel shirt, highlighting her baby blue eyes. A necklace, a locket that was shaped like a key (The top looked like a whale's tale, just saying) laced with engravings, gleamed at her chest. Yeah, yeah, I'm a pervert, deal with it!

A smile crept up her face. Not the one she gave me. It was a secret smile, a secret love she hid in her heart, right next to where she kept me. Her eyes lit up with joy, a small laugh coming out from those perfect, kissable lips.

I couldn't seem to interrupt her, not finding it in me to ruin this moment.

Suddenly, she turns, her eyes only for me. She closes the book, the chair yelling softly as it slides across the carpet as she moves it back. It falls as she burst out from the chair, arms were thrown out towards me. She laughs, "Thomas!"

Her soft, small hands encase my neck, the book tapping my spine. Tessa kisses me so deeply that when she breaks away I can hardly breathe. She whispers in my ear, "I can't believe you got me a present! I'm so happy I could scream!"

I tease her, "Nerd! Just kiss me again already."

She complies, giggling as I break it to nuzzle her neck. Tessa hits me playfully with her book, "No, really, it means so much to me. I can put my dad's picture in it! And I still can't believe you copied me!"

I laugh, "It was such a great line. And technically, you borrowed it from a person who's long, long dead. So we both copied." I add in her ear, "Besides, you have the key to my heart now. I'm at your mercy!"

Tessa screams, "Oh, Thomas! You sly fox of man!"

She drags me to her seat and starts talking about the book I bought her. How it completes the collection. How Cassandra Clare did it again. She quotes from it, practically shoving my face into the page as she shows me with her finger the words she's saying.

I smile and laugh with her, studying forgotten once more.

Can this get any better?
