Chapter 14
Not much had happened during the few days that had passed. Not until the horrible news on the local paper started to make the people in the town panic. Parents were frightened and children were scared. The attacker could come back at any time, was what they were all saying but he had never left. He was here long before the attack. I knew he was just building up time before he did something worse.

At first, we had thought he left because there was no sign of him so we didn't stop the vampire. It was our fault that he had hurt them because we could have tried to stop it from happening if we hadn't been wrong.

The night before two people had been attacked. It was a boy and a girl I recognised from school. They were still alive but were confused about what happened. They couldn't remember what attacked them. Now we had to stop the vampire once and for all, I couldn't let him hurt anyone else. It was my responsibility to protect people from evil and that's what I was going to do whatever it took.

I arrived at school that Monday morning just as everyone was leaving the form rooms to go to assembly. Mum had driven me instead of me catching the bus. "Hi Vicky," Kaitee said coming out of the classroom.

"Hi," I said and followed her, and everyone else to the hall. As we walked I glanced at her. Is she human or is she a supernatural being? How would I even know unless she told me? You can't trust anyone to be honest with you anymore. But she doesn't seem to know anything about the supernatural world. Great, now I was beginning to have conversations with myself, to try and come up with the answers myself. Well, it wasn't like I could get all the answers I needed from anyone.

Aleysha and Jess were already waiting outside in the packed corridor. They were stood near the door. We joined them. "Hey," Aleysha said.

"Hey, how's everyone?" I heard someone ask behind me.

"Hi Nick," Kaitee said. I turned around and saw Nick.

"Hi," I said.

The teacher started to let everyone into the hall, and when we finally got in, there were only a few seats left near the front so we had to sit down in them. Once everyone sat down the teacher began talking. "Some of you might have already heard but two students were attacked last night. Luckily, Heather Laswell and Jason Woods are still alive after that brutal attack. Sadly they do have some very serious injuries We want everyone to stay safe please make sure you are at home before it gets dark and hopefully we can prevent any more attacks until the police catch what ever attacked," he finished and went on to talk about school uniform and how attendance was so important. I was bored half way through so I began to lose interest and looked around the room instead. Everyone seemed to be bored as much as me.

Finally, after nearly an hour of the same boring stuff that I had heard a hundred times at my old school, we were allowed to leave for our next lesson. I had science none of my friends were in that lesson with me. They were all together but I was alone by myself, with people I didn't know. The lesson seemed to take longer than normal. Everyone started to leave when the bell rang before the teacher said we could go.

Dinner time arrived slowly and although it was a nice day outside everyone seemed to be inside because of this it was extremely warm in the canteen. I bought my dinner and went to go find my friends. They were sat at some small tables that they had pushed together. I saw that Nick and Bella were sitting close by and all of them were already eating. "Hi," I said sitting down in an empty seat.

"Hi," Jess replied.

"Don't you think it's scary, that the police don't have an idea what attacked them?" Kaitee said.

"My parents keep texting me to see if I'm okay. The police need to catch what ever did it," Aleysha replied.

"It has to be some kind of animal what else would bite them?" Kaitee said.

"I'm not sure but I think that what ever did this will be caught very soon," I told them.

"I hope so. I'm worried someone else will get attacked."

The bell rang signalling the end of dinner. However, not many people got up or they got up very slowly. My friends and I picked up our trays and put them on the tray rack and left the canteen.
