Chapter 21
Aleysha returned an hour later just before the concert was starting. Our Music teacher was having us practice again and helping to set out the seats. I was helping Jess put the seats in rows when Aleysha skipped over to us, happily. She had a big black bag, what I assumed was the clothes she picked out for us. "You're late, the concert is about to start," Jess said.

"Relax I'm here now," Aleysha said. She put the bag down on a chair and started to look through it. Then she got out two pairs of black ripped skinny jeans.

"If I knew we were wearing them I could have brought my own and cut some holes in them," Jess said annoyed.

"But then I wouldn't be designing your outfits," she said handed us the jeans. Then she handed me a black t-shirt with what looked like a red flame heart pattern in the middle.

"What shoes are we wearing?" I asked her hoping that they weren't high heels. I never liked them and I couldn't seem to walk in them. Being clumsy and heels wasn't a good combination.

"You can wear your converse."

"Hey, you're back," Kaitee said as she walked over to us with Nick. Aleysha handed them their clothes and then we went to the toilets to get changed.

Nick went to the boys and we went into the girls. I went into one of the stalls and locked the door. I looked at the jeans I never really wore jeans with rips at the knees but they looked kind of cool. The T-shirt was awesome, I really liked it. I put on the skinny jeans on first and then the t-shirt. I picked up my clothes after finishing putting my converse back on and then left the cubical.

Aleysha was sat on the sinks and it looked like Kaitee and Jess was still getting changed. "Let me do your makeup," she said.

"Okay," I said. I put my clothes into the black bag and then walked to the sink. She jumped off of the sink and opened her hand bag. She pulled out some mascara, so I closed my eyes. I wasn't used to people putting my makeup on so it felt really, awkward. Once she was finished she applied black eyeliner. Then red lipstick.

"Is that how we're having our makeup?" Jess said as she came to stand by the sinks.

"Whoa, you look so cool Vicky. You should wear makeup like that all the time," Kaitee said coming out of the toilet.

"I'm not really big on wearing makeup all the time," I said.

"We're we going to put our clothes?" Jess wondered.

"I put mine in the black bag," I told her. Her and Kaitee put their clothes in the bag. Then Aleysha started on their makeup. When she was finished we went back to the hall.

"The hall is all set up. Is everyone ready, people will be arriving soon?" Mrs Andrews (the music teacher) asked.

"Yeah," Jess said.

The students at the concert all sat down on the seats at the front and Mrs Andrews handed us all a program, telling us what time we are playing. I and my friends were on sixth. A few minutes later people were entering the hall and I saw that my mum was walking in with Emma and Jane. My mum waved at us so I smiled and waved back. I was so nervous. I had to sing in front of all these people.

When the hall was full our music teacher went up on to the stage and started talking. She introduced the first act and they went up on stage. They were so good. All the acts were and they made me feel even more nervous. We were on next and I could feel the butterflies in my stomach. I couldn't do this. What if I messed up and people would laugh?

"You're scared to sing." I heard Nick's voice in my head.

"Yeah," I thought.

"You'll be okay Vick. You'll do great and you don't need to be scared."

"I know I'm just nervous. I have never sung in front of all these people before," I said.

"I'm nervous too but it's okay. If you forget the words I will help."

"Thanks but everyone is so good."

"So are you."

I smiled and the teacher went up on stage.

"This is the second to last performance of tonight. They have written their own song. Please welcome on stage Kaitee, Jessica, Vicky and Nick," she said. Oh, great. I could feel my hands shaking.

I followed my friends up on stage and picked up my guitar

"Don't worry you will do good," Kaitee said from behind her keyboard. I just smiled. I bet I looked like a complete idiot, just smiling at people whenever they said that but I didn't know what to say. I just hoped I did do good, so I didn't embarrass myself. I walked to my microphone.

Jess started to play the drums and then the others started to play. I nervously started to play. Nick looked at me and then back to the audience. He started to sing.

Spent my life hiding away,
Never belonged here anyway,
always cast out,
it's just me,
tell me who else I can be,
don't want to be alone,
But all that changed,
With just one dream,
An angel with a smile,
that can light up the darkness,
the darkness in my soul,
but I don't know her,

He had an amazing singing voice. I couldn't help but watch him sing, I could watch him sing all day but I couldn't, it was my turn to sing along with him. I looked to the audience.

This is where we are supposed to be,

it will all get better,

can you see?

you are my getaway,

we don't have to be alone,

in this forsaken world,

if they want to reject you,

for being you,

I will always be here,

Can you see?

this is exactly where we are supposed to be,

Nick stopped signing for awhile to let me sing my part.

Never being able to speak my mind,

always wanted to say,

I never wanted to be this way,

You can tell me that I am a misfit,

but I'm sure I will find the place,

where I belong,

moving away but don't want to go,

never once I had thought it would be,

my place,

there you stood with,

a smile that made me feel at home,

a different type of home,

a place of belonging,

I found because of you,

Some people started clapping along; it was awesome. Nick started to sing along side me. I looked at all the people and suddenly I didn't feel as nervous.

This is where we are supposed to be,

it will all get better,

can you see?

you are my getaway,

we don't have to be alone,

in this forsaken world,

if they want to reject you

for being you,

I will always be here,

Can you see?

this is exactly where we are supposed to be,

if they want to reject you,
for being you,

I will always be here,

Can you see?

this is exactly where we are supposed to be,

I will always be here for you,

if they reject you for being you.

When the song finished, I didn't want it to end but we left the stage.

The concert ended and I was waiting outside the girls' toilets for Jess. People kept coming up to me to say well done or that they liked my voice. I knew I was okay at singing but I wasn't that good but these people thought I was.

A woman I didn't recognise came and stood beside me. She had dark purple hair and dark brown eyes. She looked at me and I felt uneasy. There was something about her that told me that she couldn't be trusted.

"Hello, Vicktoria you did very well," she said. She sounded American.

"Do I know you?" I asked.

"No, but you will."

"What do you mean?"

"Let's just say that your destiny, will let you know who I am," she answered and walked away. I didn't understand what she was on about.

Jess came out of the toilets so we walked back to our parents. "Jess we're going home now," her mum said.

"Okay," Jess said and we said goodbye.

At home I walked into my bedroom, to see someone sat at my desk. How on earth did she get inside? She could be very dangerous. She turned to face me and I was about to scream to my mum in terror before she spoke.

"I'm sorry please don't be alarmed, for I won't hurt you. I have come to warn you," she said, in such a strange accent. It wasn't any I had heard and she spoke so softly it sounded as if she wasn't speaking at all, but yet her lips were moving.

"I have every right to be alarmed, you broke into our house," I said.

"I did not break in," she claimed.

"Then how did you get in?" I questioned her.

"I don't need to break in or open any windows or doors to enter any building," she replied.

"That makes it worse. I should call the police."

"No, don't do that. I need to warn you," she said urgently.

"Warn me of what?"

"You and Nick are in serious danger," she explained.

"Yes, I know people want us dead because we are the destined ones," I said "Who are you anyway? How do you know Nick's name?"

"I'm an angel, I've been sent from heaven," she said but I didn't believe her. You think I would, after all the things I've seen and found out existed, but I just had a hard time trusting someone who broke into my house, insisting that they can enter places at will.

"I'm your Guardian," she added.

"You're my Guardian?" I asked confused.

"Yes, I should have told you before," she answered. "Just be careful." She disappeared. I sat down at my desk.

My mobile phone started to ring so I answered it. I didn't recognise the number but I answered it anyway. "Hello?"

"Hi, Vicky." It was Bella. Why was she calling me?

"Oh, hi Bella. What you up to?"

"Nothing. Bored. You did great at the concert."

"Thank you. Not to be mean but can I ask you why you are calling me?" I asked her.

"Well I wanted to know if you want to be friends. You now since we have fought evil vampires and rescued Emma together," she said. I wanted to be friends with her but I didn't like how she treated Nick. Although she had been nice to me.

"Yeah, of course, we can be friends," I said.

"Cool. So what are you up to?"

"Nothing really."

Someone was talking in the background and Bella said something to them.

"Hey," I heard Nick say.

"Hey."

"How are you?" He asked me.

"You've seen me not long ago," I answered. "I'm good though."

"That's good."

"Erm... Since there is no school tomorrow, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out or something?" He asked me.

"Are you asking me out on a date?" I joked but really I wished he was since I had never been on a date before.

"Er...No just hanging out as friends. Sorry."

"I was joking," I said.

"If you want it to be a date it can be."

"Friends hanging out is good."

"Goodnight Vicky. I will see you tomorrow," he said.

"Goodnight, Nicki," I said and then he ended the call.

I got ready for bed. Why the hell did I say that I only wanted it to be just friends hanging out? He asked me if I wanted it to be a date and I said no. What was wrong with me? I liked him but he said he just wanted to hang out as friends. Maybe it was best that I said no to the date.

I finished getting ready and got into bed. I wasn't very tired so I read where I left off in my mum's book of shadows. There were spells for everything: protection, love and so much more. I got distracted reading the spells that I lost track of time and I slowly fell to sleep.
