Chapter 7
At dinner time the canteen was crowded. It was just the right size to fit everyone in no chairs seemed to be left empty. I had to dodge my way around people so I didn't bump into them. Kaitee did it with ease. Maybe it was because she was short.
"Sit with me today so that you can meet, Alyesha," she said.
"I don't really want to intrude on you having dinner with your friends."
"What are you talking about? You're my friend now too." How did that happen? I was never good at making friends now I had three. Two of which lived here, Kaitee and I was sure Nick was my friend also.
We came to a table where Jess sat with a blonde haired girl that I recognised from my English class. Kaitee sat down next to the blonde girl but I remained standing.
"Hey, Vicktoria," she chimed happily.
"Hey," I said.
"Sit down," she told me tapping the table, still in the over happy tone. She seemed very optimistic. I sat down.
"This is Alyesha she can get easily excited sometimes," Kaitee said.
"Yeah she's like the little kid of our group," Jess joked.
"Oh, shush. We hardly get any new people in the town so I have a right to be happy and excited."
"Don't we need to find Nick so the three can arrange something and meet together to decide what we're going to perform?" I asked them.
"You're right. Why don't we go to the library after school tomorrow? It doesn't close till eight so we can go at about six," Kaitee answered.
"Sounds good, but we need to find Nick to tell him," Jess pointed out.
"No, you don't. He's right there," Alyesha said nodding her head towards him. We all turned to where she was looking and I saw him. He was talking to a brown-haired boy, with naturally tanned skin and was only one inch smaller than Nick. I wondered if it was Diego but it had to be. That was the only friend he had according to Kaitee.
"Nick," I shouted. He and his friend looked over at us. His friend said something to him. Nick said something back looking annoyed. Then the boy laughed as Nick walked over to us.
"What's up?"
"We're going to the library after school tomorrow to discuss what we're doing for the concert," Kaitee told him.
"What time?"
"Six O'clock. You'll be there won't you?"
"Yes of course," he answered. "Is that all?"
"That's all." He turned around and walked off.
"See you later, Nick," Aleysha said.
"See you later," he said and then walked back to his friend.

After School, I tried to make a start on my science homework that I had gotten in the last lesson of the day but I was too tired to think properly. I put it back in my bag and then my phone rang. The screen told me it was Emilee. I answered.
"Hello," I said.
"Hello, how are you getting on without me?"
"I'm good. I've made some friends," I replied.
"Oh, my Vicky's starting to grow up in the world," she joked.
"Shut up," I ordered.
"Do I get to meet these friends of yours then?" She asked me.
"Of course when you come over next."
"I have to go have my tea. I'll text you," she told me.
"Alright," I said before she ended the call.
She texted me straight away and we texted for hours just like how we talked for hours at sleepovers. We told each other everything because we had been best friends since nursery. When it reached ten we said goodnight.
I turned out my light and climbed in bed. I fell to sleep straight away, but at around one AM I was once again awakened by the same strange noise but this time I didn't get up. I just gripped the duvet tighter and pulled it over my head, trying to go back to sleep because I refused to let it scare me. Although I was lying to myself, it was scaring me.
Slowly, I pulled the duvet off my head and screamed. There stood a man. No not a man because he had red eyes, sharp pointy canine teeth. Although it was dark I could just make out that his teeth were covered in blood. I pulled the covers over my head so fast.
My heart was pounding. Never had I been so scared in my life but yet I found my self-looking to see if he was still there. I looked carefully, making sure I didn't pull the covers too far down. I wanted to remain somewhat hidden from him as if he wouldn't be able to see me laying there.
He was still there.
"Honey, what's the matter? I heard you screaming," I heard my mum's voice say. I sat up quickly and saw that she was stood next to my bed.
"Did you see that man?"
"What man Vicky? I ran here as soon as you screamed and didn't see anyone. You must have had a nightmare," she said.
"Yeah, it must have been. Sorry for waking you up." But he had seemed so real. It couldn't have been just a nightmare but I had nightmares or strange dreams so often could I really tell if they were real or not anymore?
"Don't be sorry, we all have nightmares. Try and go back to sleep okay," she said and left my room. I laid back down on my pillow.
"Sit with me today so that you can meet, Alyesha," she said.
