Chapter 1
Vicky

The following month after their attack on me and Nick, had been quiet. Too quiet. I was expecting them to come back and finish what they started any day now.

"Vicky, are you getting up? You're going back to school today," my mum called from downstairs.

"Yes," I said but I was already up. I was just struggling to put my clothes on. Thanks to the 'evil ones', I could hardly move even after a month. They would pay; I would make sure of it. The month where I had to spend all my time at home, hadn't been so bad because I could do research.

Now I knew how to stop them, and how to protect people from them. My research had helped me to find helpful magic spells and learn how to cast them. I wasn't the clueless, clumsy witch I was. Well I was still clumsy because that would never change, but I wasn't clueless about spells and magic no more.

I finished buttoning up my blouse and reached for my blazer which was next to me on my bed.

Now, I was finally ready, so slowly I stood up. Then I made my way out of my bedroom. I left the door open and started for the stairs.

I took a hold of the hand rail, with the arm that wasn't broken, before making my way down. Better for me to be safe than to fall and hurt myself. I didn't feel like going back to hospital. I reached the bottom and made my way into the living/dining room. Our kitchen was so small we had to have our dining table in our living room.

My mum was already sat at the table so I made my way towards it. I pulled out a chair and sat down. Then I noticed there was a bowl in front of me along with a box of cornflakes, a spoon, sugar, milk and a glass of orange juice. I picked up the cornflakes and emptied them into my bowl. Mum finished her drink and stood up.

"I have to go to work now. You'll be okay till, Nick gets here won't you?" She asked with concern.

"I'll be fine," I replied and then put some sugar onto my cornflakes, with my spoon.

She nodded, picking up her bowl, spoon and glass to take to the kitchen. She returned a few seconds later and I watched her walk to the coats. Which we kept hung up on the wall near the door, and underneath we kept our shoes.

"See you later, darling," she said as she put on her coat.

"Bye, mum," I said and she unlocked the door and walked out. She shut it behind her. I turned to look back at my food.

I poured milk onto my cornflakes and then started eating. Once I had finished, there came a knock at the door. It was, Nick. I jumped up out of the seat and pain shot in both sides so I had to take hold of the table until it went. I must have moved too fast from excitement. Once the pain had ceased I went to go open the door.

Nick stood outside smiling at me. I smiled back and looked up into his bright green eyes. How did they still seem to amaze me? He gently put his arm around my back and his lips found their way to mine. He stepped back, letting go of me.

"How you feeling to day?" He asked me.

"Better. Still hurting a bit but better," I replied and then walked back inside. He followed and shut the door. He pulled of his backpack from his shoulders, but held on to it.

"I just need to get my shoes and coat on," I said. He nodded.

Bending down for my shoes caused parts of my body to hurt. Just once more I tried, but it was no use, it still sent pains through my body.

"Let me do it. Go sit down," Nick said. I did as he said and went to go sit down on the red, faux leather sofa. He followed with my shoes in hand. His bag was now near the doorway.

Nick kneeled down on the floor. "Give me your foot," he said. I lifted my foot and he put on my shoe. Then I swapped it with my other one and he put it on.

" You ready to go?"

"Not yet, I need my bag."

"Where is it?" He asked.

"Upstairs." I said.

"In your room?" I nodded. "I'll go get it," he added and left the room.

The bowl and other things needed to be moved into the kitchen. It would be slightly difficult for me but it had to be done. When I returned to get the rest, Nick was just entering the room.

"You could have asked me to do that," Nick said.

''I'm not incapable of doing things you know,'' I told him.

"I know but you're still in pain. You need to take it easy and rest as much as you can."

"But I can't let everyone do everything for me. I need to do things for my self," I said.

''Okay, I just want to help,'' he said.

"Alright, you grab the cereal. I'll get the milk," I said.

He picked up the cereal and I got the milk. We then took them to the kitchen and then set off for school. On our way out, we made sure we picked up our bags. I locked the door before we left the garden.

"Hold hands?" He asked, holding out his hand to me, so I took hold of it, and we started for the bus stop.

When we reached the stop, the two girls were there. The girls who told me not to hang out with nick, when I first moved there. Now they were staring at us, all wide eyed in shock because me and Nick was holding hands.

The reason why their eyes were almost popping out of their sockets was because no one knew that we were dating, yet. When they found out they would think I was crazy for going out with him. You see not everyone in the village liked Nick, because they thought he was a freak. I think they thought this because he was different to them and preferred not talking to them.

He was different but not a freak, they just didn't understand him. They never took the time to get to know him like I had. If they did they would find out that he was super kind, and very amazing. It's not like he would ever be like them, neither of us would because they were ordinary humans, and we were supernaturals. Nick was a vampire and as I have already mentioned, I am a witch so we weren't exactly normal, but we weren't freaks.

There were more supernaturals in the world. It wasn't because Nick was a vampire that made them think of him that way. They didn't know he was one. There was no reasonable answer to why they thought of him that way. I had come to the decision that it was just because they were bullies.

I looked at Nick, who was staring back at them and smiled before kissing my cheek. Why are you kissing me? I telepathed to him.

That was one of our abilities as destined ones. We could hear each others thoughts, but only when the other person wanted. If we didn't want the other to hear, we could block them out. It meant that we didn't really have any secrets kept from one another. It didn't happen straight away. It took a while until we could hear each other properly, and now it was more frequent.

Destined ones according to the professes were simply four children born with unseen or unknown powers to help them protect the regular humans from evil supernaturals and basically maintain the peace between both. However, that didn't guarantee that the destined ones would use that power for good. A great example of using those powers for bad are our new enemy. The evil ones as we nicknamed them as they intend on making the world suffer, rather than keep peace there.

Because they are staring at us. They don't believe what they are seeing, so I'm making it clear to them, he thought back.

Just ignore them because there will be more people staring and making mean comments when we get to school, I said.

"Are you two actually going out?" the girl with blonde died hair asked.

"Yes, we are," Nick answered.

"And was this a two person decision or did you blackmail her into dating you?" She asked.

"Of course it was a two person decision, why would I blackmail her into dating me? Who does something like that?"

"Well she's not just going to agree to go out with you, just like that because no one in their right mind would, so either you blackmailed her or you threatened her, or hit her since she is covered in bruises, and has been off of school for like a month. Which is it?"

"I didn't lay a finger on her. I would never hurt her so do not ever suggest, I would ever do such a thing again, and I didn't blackmail or threaten her," he shouted, looking down at the floor, rather than at her because if she saw his eyes it would scare her. They would scare her because when he was angry or hungry for blood they turned to a unnatural yellow-green colour.

"Then why else would she date you? She can't of agreed to go out with you because she likes you. What girl would ever want to hold your hand or kiss you, unless they were being forced to? Any girl you liked would run a thousand miles, than go out with you because they wouldn't want to be seen with a freak like you," she said.

"Well you are wrong because I would want to be seen with him. He didn't force me to go out with him. I said yes because I like him, and in fact I wanted to ask him out before he did, but I was too nervous to do so," I said.

"Eww, why?" Her friend asked.

"Because he is kind, fun, talented and he is a better person than you two put together ever will be," I said and they looked shocked.

"What did you just say?" The blonde haired girl asked.

"You heard her Katherine so why don't you and your friend turn around, walk on the bus that is nearly here, and mind your own fucking business," Nick said as he looked up from the floor, his eyes were his normal green colour. He had calmed down a bit know.

"Fucking? You have no right to speak to me like that. You'll pay freak and you're lucky I like you, Vicktoria but your boyfriend can pay for what you said to me, as well as for what he said," she said just as the bus pulled up. She smiled and walked on.

"Hope you enjoy your week, Nick," her friend laughed and followed her on.

"I shouldn't have said anything should I? Now their going to be mean to you all week," I said.

"It's nothing new," he replied.

"But they will be even worse now," I told him.

"Don't worry, it wont be anything they haven't already done to me. They'll just try to humiliate me so nothing they haven't already done," he said.

"That's not the point," I said.

"Are you two getting on?" The bus driver asked us. Nick walked on so I followed. We paid our fare and walked down the bus.
