Chapter 3
Vicky
Form was over nearly over and now it was time for English class. Before I and Kaitee got up to leave the room she turned to face me with a smile on her face.
"So you and Nick, huh? How long you been going out?" She asked me curiously.
"A month tomorrow," I replied.
"I bet everyone has already started to say smart remarks, and say you're crazy," she said.
"Yeah, Katherine and her friend weren't very nice to us this morning, when they saw us holding hands," I told her.
"Do you think I'm crazy for dating him?"
"No, of course not. He is a little weird sometimes but from what I gather he is really nice, and you know him a lot better than the rest of us right? I mean he talks to you the most, and you obviously like him if you decided to go out with him," she said.
"He is really nice and kind. He's also really fun to be around."
"Then why do you think you are crazy for dating him?" She asked.
"I don't but people will think I am," I replied.
"Don't listen to them. They are stupid. If you like, Nick, date him because it doesn't matter what the awful people in this village think, as long as he is making you happy and treating you nicely," She said.
"But Katherine and her friend thought that he was the one who did this to me and I don't want anyone to think he would do such a thing because he wouldn't," I said.
"All your friends believe you about what happened so isn't that what matters?" She wondered.
When I ended up in the hospital I made sure to tell all my friends what happened as quickly as possible to avoid misunderstandings.
Although, I wasn't entirely convinced that they believed me because why should they? Two strangers came to the village and jumped me, while I was walking in the woods, but they left me alive, instead of killing me, and didn't steal any belongings. Then Nick found me laying on the floor, didn't sound very realistic. Who randomly jumps someone without any intent of stealing something from them or in killing them?
It seemed a bit strange to me, but maybe everything seemed that way to me now. It seemed that way because of everything I've seen and found out about the world.
"You're right," I replied, picking up my bag. Kaitee did the same and we left the room.
"I'll see you later," she said and walked towards her classroom. I started for mine.
I was walking into the classroom when two arms wrapped themselves around my waist. It was clear to me who they belonged to, because of how they held me. They held me with care, and delicately.
"Ready for the assessment?" Nick asked. His voice sounds calm. How he was so calm before a test confused me because I was so nervous.
"Yes," I lied. "Do you know you never say hi to me?"
"Hello. See I do," he said as he let go of me.
"Too late now," I said and walked inside, Nick following close behind.
The tables were pulled apart so that they were just single desks. Nearly everyone was already here.
"Get a pen and leave your bags at the front," the teacher said. We did just that and found some empty seats. Everyone else started to pile in. Once they were seated the teacher spoke again.
"Alright, you have an hour to complete it. There will be absolutely no talking, and anyone caught cheating will automatically fail and will be asked to leave the room. You may begin," he told the class.
I picked up my pen and began to read the question.

Time was up now and I had managed to finish just in time to check what I wrote.
"Alright put your pens down," the teacher said. A few people quickly finished what they were writing and put them down. Everyone got up from their seats and collected their bags.
"I'm just going to the toilet, I'll meet you in the canteen," Nick told me when we were walking out of the classroom.
"Okay, see you soon," I said and we walked in different directions.
Nick
I was feeling positive about the exam. English had always been my strongest subject at school.
I pushed open the door to the boy's toilets and walked in. The toilets were filthy as usual but I didn't blame the cleaners, I blamed the dirty, disrespectful boys at this school, who thought it was fun to through tissue everywhere and pee on the floor. Would they ever grow up? Walking in further, I stepped over the toilet paper and stains, when I heard the door open so I turned around to see who it was.
Darren, Ashford and their army of delinquents, who couldn't think for themselves walked in. They always did whatever Darren or Ash was doing and would do anything they asked them to. Even jump off of a bridge, no doubt.
"Hi, freaks," Darren said. He called me that because of my last name and because I was a freak. Well, people in this village thought so. Watson and freak made them think of freaks which they thought was clever but a three-year-old could think of a better name.
"Are you not going to say hi to me? That's a little rude," he said as his friend went to go stand by the door to block it. He didn't want to my leave.
They want to beat you up, I thought.
Isn't what they always want to do? It's either that or make fun of me. Yes, that's my life here. Nearly everyone hated me and for no reason. That's why I hated it in that village.
"What do you want Darren?" I asked him.
"You know what I want," he replied. "You swore at Kathrine, so we are here to make you pay."
Stupid, why didn't you realise that she would tell her boyfriend?
I'm not scared of them.
But you don't stand a chance there is seven of them, you can't fight all of them, Nick.
He walked towards me, two of the guys following him. One tried to grab me, but I moved out of the way, as the other tried to grab me. He couldn't catch me. I turned and punched him before he could grab me. He threw his hand to his face in pain. I ran towards the sinks.
"Don't just stand there to help them," Darren ordered the rest of his group.
They all came running over. I tried to dodge them, but too many hands were reaching for me. Someone grabbed me and held my arms back so I couldn't move.
I couldn't see behind me but I could feel people pushing me to the ground. They managed to push me to the floor after I struggled to keep upright. I fell to my knees. The person still had a hold. Darren walked closer and I could finally hear my heart pounding from fear. I was stronger than all of them but not strong enough to fight all of them together, by myself.
Being a vampire I was naturally strong, and good at fighting but no child vampire was good enough to win in a fight against so many. Maybe if I was an adult. Although I wouldn't be one of them for a few more years, I had powers, that I wasn't sure how to control yet.
If I could use my powers against them I would most certainly win, but it wasn't an option. There was the slight chance that they knew about supernaturals but I highly doubted it because they would have already guessed what I was. Even if I tried to fight without any use of power it would be no good because I still would fail.
It's not even like I could go even go anywhere with Ash stood at the door.
So you're just going to give up and let them beat you up? My inner voice asked.
What am I supposed to do? I can't fight all of them.
You're weak, Nick.
I shook my head trying to stop listening to my inner thoughts and just watched Darren walk closer. The sole of his shoe connected with my nose, causing a sharp- agonising pain to shoot through it. I closed my eyes to try to keep myself from screaming out in pain and the cracking noise filled my ears making me wince. He broke my nose, the idiot broke my nose. If I wasn't being held to the floor and if it was just him I would hit him.
He knelt down so that he was looking me in the face. I watched him pull his arm back in a fist and he swung for me. Out of impulse, I tried to pull away and luckily he missed.
"Hold him still!" He shouted.
"I'm trying, he's too strong," the boy holding me said.
"Someone help him," he ordered.
Another boy came to help hold me still. They both held one side of me. Darren made a swing for me again, I still tried moving out of the way but I couldn't move far enough. His first hit my cheek. It hurt but not as much as his kick.
"Don't ever talk to my girlfriend like that ever again. Do you understand, freak?" Darren asked. I didn't reply. I didn't want to talk to him because I was thinking of a way to get back at him. Not that I would because I didn't think they were worth my time. I had more important things to do than to get my revenge on bullies.
"I said do you understand?" He asked again.
"Yes," I said and they left the toilets. Finally, I thought and stood up.
The bell rang, signalling it was the end of break time. I went to the toilet and washed my hands and face before I set off to music. When I reached the classroom everyone was already sat down in their seats. As I entered everyone stared at me. My nose still hurt like hell.
"Go sit down," the teacher said so I went to go sit down next to, Vicky.
