Chapter 9
Vicky
We reached Kaitee's house and Aleysha skipped up to the front door and knocked. Even her knock sounded preppy. She stepped back and we waited for someone to come to the door.
The door opened revealing Kaitee standing there in her pyjamas. They were light green and the pattern were faces of cute little black cats. "I thought you were at the party?" She wondered as she looked at each of us individually.
"We were, but there was a power cut and a girl fainted so an ambulance had to come, so the party was cut short. We all decided to come here and finish the night chilling, watching horror films," Aleysha explained.
"But you don't like horror films," Kaitee pointed out.
"No, but I like hanging out with my friends. Anyway are you going to let us in or not?" She asked.
"Sure, come in," Kaitee replied. She stepped aside so we could enter. Once inside she closed the door behind her and then she told us to go through into the living room, so we did.
"Who was it, Kait?" Her mum asked as her and her husband entered from the kitchen. "Oh," she said when she noticed me, Aleysha and Nick.
"I thought you were only having a few friends over?" Her father asked as he stared at Nick intently.
"I am," she replied.
"You never mentioned anything about boys coming over," her dad said.
"Well he is my friend too," Kaitee explained. When she said the word friend I noticed Nick's eyes become wide in shock and turned away from her father to face her instead.
"Stop. Let him stay. There's no harm in them all watching some films," her mum explained.
"Fine," he said and walked passed the four of us and out of the living room doorway. Then disappeared out of sight.
"Are any of you hungry or thirsty? I can get some drinks and popcorn," her mum asked.
We all said thanks and please. Then she asked us what we wanted out of Coke, Lemonade or orange squash. When we had all replied she headed back to the kitchen.
"I'm your friend?" Nick asked Kaitee when her mum was out of earshot.
"Yeah," she replied.
"Of course you're our friend Nick. Why wouldn't you be?" Aleysha wondered.
"Erm ... Maybe because we have never really talked much and lots of people in town hate me."
"Well, now's the time to talk, to get to know you and besides we did speak to you, but you never seemed like you wanted to talk to us," she told him.
"That's not true. It's not that I didn't want to speak to you, I just maybe thought you were being polite and I was never that good at making friends. Sometimes I just don't know what to say to make people like me or I talk about things that make people think I'm weird."
"Isn't that a good enough reason to be your friend? Being weird," she asked.
"Well..."
"Seriously, Nicolas how hard is it to believe we actually want to be friends with you?" Jess said from the sofa.
"I thought I told you not to call me that," he ordered in a slightly more raised voice.
"Whatever. Point is just because some people don't like you doesn't mean we don't. Also, you say you don't know what to say to make people like you, that's stupid obviously you do because how else would we be friends with you? Why else would Vicky like you enough to be your girlfriend?" She questioned him.
"Okay, well it's nice that you are my friends, " he said with a smile and finally accepting that they were really his friends.
"Okay, now that it's all settled can we watch something now?" Kaitee asked.
"Yeah," Nick replied and we all went to go sit down.
Sometime later after we had decided on a movie Kaitee's mum came back and told us that our drinks and popcorn was ready.
So we all got up to collect our drinks and popcorn. When we all entered the room I saw that they were all placed at the side of the sink on the worktop. We each grabbed our own drinks and Nick beat Kaitee to the bowl of popcorn. After we headed back to the living room and sat down all except for Kaitee, instead she placed her glass on the coffee table, picked up the DVD we chose and walked towards the TV.
Opening the case she bent down and popped it in the DVD player. Once she closed the draw and it was loading she made her way to the sofa and sat down.
The title page was now up on the screen. I was glad that it didn't have any adverts. She picked up the control and pressed play. The film started.

Part way into the film Alyesha covered her eyes. "Why did you guys let me watch this?" She asked her voice sounded mumbled.
"Well you said that you didn't mind watching it," Jess replied.
"Well now I've changed my mind," Aly said.
"The scariest part hasn't happened yet," Nick spoke quietly.
"Hasn't happened yet? If it hasn't happened yet I'd hate to see it," she said. "I also can't go to the toilet," she added.
"Yes, you can," Kaitee told her.
"No, I can't I'm too scared," she pointed out.
"Run there and back then," Jess suggested.
"OK, but if anything happens to me it will be your fault," Alyesha said removing her hands from her eyes and stood up, turned to Jess being extra careful not to catch a glimpse of the TV.
"Aly I promise you'll be fine
No one will get you," Nick reassured her.
"OK, sure. I hope you're right," she said and then headed to the toilet.
A few minutes later I heard her returning. Her feet pounded against the stairs as she ran down them and into the living room. She was just about to sit in the seat when Nick shouted, "boo." she jumped slightly and fell in her seat.
Nick laughed and she pulled the cushion from underneath her, then threw it at him as she spoke. "That wasn't funny," she said as the cushion hit Nick in the face. When it fell he caught it.
"OK I'm sorry, but it was kinda funny," he told her.
"No, it wasn't. I wasn't expecting it. I could have had a heart attack," she carried on.
"You're overreacting again," he said.
"OK so maybe I wouldn't have but don't do anything like that again. Especially when I've been watching horror films. Promise?" She said.
"Okay, I promise," he agreed.
"Good. Can I have the pillow back now?" she asked. Nick threw it towards her and she caught it.

Time passed and the film ended. It was a really great film and it had been fun hanging with friends, but now it was getting late and it was time to head home.
"It's getting late, I'm sure your parents will be wanting you home," Kaitee's mum told us.
"My mum was supposed to be picking me up from the party at eleven. I'm going to see if I can call her to let her know I'm here instead," I replied and then stood up pulling out my mobile phone. I had a tiny amount of signal so I walked around the room trying to find some. When I managed to find a better one I entered contacts and called my mum.
"Hello, Vicky how are you?" My mum answered.
"Hi, mum I'm OK. I'm not at the party. I'm at Kaitee's can you pick me up there instead?" I asked her.
"Sorry I can't hear you. Can you speak slower, darling?" She wondered.
"I'm at Kaitee's can you please pick me up there?" I asked again but a lot slower.
"I still can't hear you. I think I have a bad signal," she said and then the call ended. Sighing I decided to text her instead.
Mum, can you please pick me up from Kaitee's house? It's a long story of why I'm not at the party anymore. Her address is 5 Greenwood Avenue. I typed and then hit send. I just really hoped she got it.
"How are you three getting home? Are you going to call your parents?" Kaitee's mum wondered.
"My dad should be on his way to pick me up. I already told him to pick me up around this time," Jess explained.
"It's not that far home from here. I can walk home," Nick said.
"Nonsense, it's getting dark out, you can't walk home alone. What would your parents say if we let you do that? I wouldn't be happy if someone let my daughter," she told him.
"My mum wouldn't mind taking you home, Nick. Also, I'm sure she'll take you home to Aly," I suggested.
"Yes, that'll be best. At least I'll know all of you will get home safe," she said.
We all sat back down and watched a little bit of TV. Jessica's dad was the first to arrive. She said goodbye to us all and left.
OK, Darling.
I finally received a text back from my mum. Luckily she had received it. The four of us talked about several things but mainly about mine and Nick's idea to start a band.
"You totally should. You all rocked that school concert. I know with practice you'll be totally great and I'd love to hear you play again," Ayesha told us.
"Then it's decided we're making an official band," Nick said with a huge smile in his face.
"I guess it is," Kaitee agreed.
"Woo. So did you ask Jess about it?" he asked.
"Yeah, she said it seems fun," Kaitee replied.
Then there came a knock at the door. Kaitee answered and it turned out to be my mum so we all said goodbye. Alyesha also pulled Kaitee into a hug before we left.
"See you all at school next week," Kaitee called as the three of us headed out the door.
"Yeah, see you," Nick managed to say just before she closed the door. We followed my mum to her car and got inside. Once the doors were shut and we all had our seatbelts on she began to drive.

closed my eyes.
It felt as if my hands were bound, so I tried to pull them apart to see if they were. I found out they were because no matter how hard I pulled they wouldn't come apart. Why are my hands tied? Have I been kidnapped? What's happening? My mind thought. I couldn't think straight, because I hadn't a clue what was happening. I looked down and saw that I was sat on a chair. I really had been kidnapped. My breathing quickened and so did my heartbeat. I needed to think of a way of escape but my mind failed to think of a way. Calm down, Vicky and think, I told myself as I glanced around the room. Now I noticed that I was in a dimly lit room but it seemed somewhat brighter than it should have. It had that glowing haze that my visions tended to have. That relaxed me a bit but not much because it could still possibly happen in the future.
I didn't get time to look around the room enough to take in details because my attention was snapped to the sound of a voice I recognised. "Let us go or I swear I'll kill you both," Emilee said. I could hear by the tone of her voice that she was trying to act brave but really she was scared. I turned to face her voice and saw that she was tied up on a seat next to me. I also realised who our kidnappers were. The evil ones stood in front of us and they started laughing. Their laughing was so loud it hurt my ears.
"Is that so? We are vampires with powers and you stupid little girl. You can't kill us you're just a weak ordinary human," the man snickered as he walked closer to Emilee.
I opened my mouth to shout at him but I suddenly woke up, with my body shaking and their laughter still ringing in my ears. I looked towards my wall and took deep breaths to try and calm down. There's no need to panic Vicky. There's time to make sure it doesn't happen, I thought but I was still somewhat worried and angry. Why can't they leave Emilee out of this? I added still in thought and sighed.
I got out of bed because I decided to go get a drink of water as I had become very thirsty all of a sudden. Slowly I made my way to my bedroom door, with my arms out in front of me, trying my hardest not trip. "Damn it, why didn't I use my phone for light or at least turned on the lamp?" I whispered to myself in annoyance.
Luckily I found the door and opened it and walked out. I fumbled around to find the hallway light switch and managed to find it. Then I tiptoed down the stairs so that I wouldn't wake my mum. As I walked, I did so cautiously. That vision had really set my nerves on edge.
I got down the stairs safely and then switched on the living room light before heading towards the kitchen. There was no way I would get to the kitchen safely without a source of light. Even though I had turned the light on I managed to trip and fall, due to looking behind me quickly. I was expecting the evil ones to be hiding out in dark corners looking to pounce on me, although I knew they weren't around, I would sense them plus in my vision they had kidnapped Emilee too but she wasn't here and they couldn't possibly know where she lived, could they?
I feel to the floor with a loud thud as I landed on my bottom. "Ouch," I exclaimed quietly hoping my mum didn't hear it. I scrambled up off the floor, my bottom hurt a little but I was glad I hadn't fallen on my broken arm, not now when it had nearly healed and I was getting the pot off in two days.
I entered the kitchen and filled up a glass with water and then turned off the tap. Then I headed back to my room, struggling to turn out the lights as I went. As I walked back upstairs I was still slightly cautious.
Once back up I drank the water and place it down, then climbed back into bed. I lied down. Don't worry too much. You'll find a way to protect Emilee and it hasn't happened yet. Also, surely that will be the last of my visions tonight, I thought. It wasn't common for me to have two visions in a row. Well, I hope not. I need to get at least some sleep tonight, I added in thought and closed my eyes.
