Chapter 23
Not long after she came back with a tray in hand, that had the tea on and some biscuits on top. She placed it down on the coffee table next to me and than sat down on the armchair. Both Nick and I said thank you and then I handed Nick a mug before getting my own. It took awhile to drink our tea because at first we had to take little sips as it was very hot and we talked with Emma. Once we had finished we took the to tray and mugs to the kitchen and then headed to the ballroom. At the other end of the corridor the two of us came to a stop just outside some double doors, which Nick pushed open and entered. I followed him.
Inside my eyes found themselfs glancing around at the huge room. There was a pale wooden floor and beige coloured walls, that had what I think were fairy lights. They covered the entire walls and hung down from the very top of walls just bellow the celling. However, I wasn't sure because there was no other light other than the light flooding in from the hallway. This light though helped me to make out small details of a stage area.
"I'll go find a light switch," Nick said.
"Okay," I spoke nodding my head.
He headed towards the wall and then followed it around until he came to a stop a little further in. Then the room lit up and I could see everything more clearly. I could now see the speaker system on the stage.
"Now, music," he said and sort of half ran towards the stage area. Then he jumped up onto it easily as it was fairly low to the ground.
I followed but didn't run because I was worried I would slip and fall on the hard floor. When I reached the stage, I carefully stepped up. We looked thorough all the CDs in this big case, until we settled on one. It was a mixture of lots of different. Nick put it into the player and after turning on the system, he hit play and the music played.
A huge smile found it's way to his face and held out his hand, so I took a hold of it. He then lead my back down to the wooden floor.
"So what are we gonna learn first, Sir," I asked with a grin on my face.
"Just try copying what I do, okay?" He stated.
"Okay," I agreed.
Then he let go of my hand, so he could show me a dance move. He started by doing a move with his feet as it would be easier for me due to my arm. I tried copying him, but almost fell.
"Just go slowly," he said and slowed it down a little, so I could follow him.
I managed to get it after a few tries. "See told you, you could dance," he pointed out. "Now, a little quicker," he added, so we did just that.
We kept doing it until I got it somewhat perfect and then carried on dancing until we had a small little routine. Then we left the mansion, saying buy to Emma as we went. Nick walked me home and as we walked through the woods we held hands, so that we stayed close together as it was now getting dark out.
"I'm gonna miss you," I told him.
"I'll miss you too, but I won't be gone that long. I'll be back just before School starts again," he said.
"I know," I mumbled.
"When I get back we will do something together," he suggested.
"Sounds good," I said.
We left the woods and carried on walking close together, until we finally reached my house. I let go of Nick's hand and pushed opened the gate. Then we headed up the garden path and stopped outside the door.
"See you later, Angel," Nick told me.
"See you later, Nicki," I replied and he stepped forwards and pulled me into a gentle hug. Then planted a kiss on my lips. It was a long kiss and it seemed almost, no like magic as it sent warm, exciting tingles of joy through me. I knew I'd be thinking about the kiss while he was gone.
After awhile he stepped back and said, "goodnight, Vicky."
"Goodnight," I said back. "Have fun at your Uncle's for Christmas," I added.
"You have fun here too," he told me and then headed down the garden path. I watched him ad he walked and when he reached the end of the path and stepped out of the gate, he turned and waved me goodbye. I waved back and he left.
When I got inside my mum said hello and watched TV a little while. "Did you have fun?" She asked me when I had closed the door and was seated next to her on the sofa.
"Yeah, I did pretty well. I didn't fall over at least," I replied.
"That's good," she stated with a smile.
"You were right. The hall is very huge. Does Emma hold parties there?" I wondered.
"Not so much since her parents died. Her parents use to hold balls and stuff there," she told me.
I nodded my head be for continuing with, "how come she doesn't hold them anymore?"
"Don't think she has the time what with having making sure her tenants are happy and managing finances, since she doesn't really have a lot of people helping her," my mum explained but still I got a little confused.
"Tenants?" I questioned lowering my eyebrows.
"Yeah, she owns a few houses around town and a couple just on the outskirts. She got handed them down by her parents," my mum said clearing up the confusion.
"Oh, so that's why she lives in that mansion she got handed it over from her parents when they died?" I asked.
"Yes, and a lot of money too," my mum pointed out all though I kinda figured that out.
"So does she own this cottage?" I asked, curiously.
"No, some guy does," she answered and slightly nodded my head.
"Ah," I signed and then found myself yawning. 'I think I might get ready for bed, so goodnight," I told her as I stood up.
"Okay, goodnight, honey," she said back and then I headed up stairs.
Up in the bathroom, I brushed my teeth, washed my face and then went into my room to change. It didn't take too long, but once ready I climbed into bed and tried reading my book. I say tried because all I could think about was Nick and the kiss we shared together. It really was the best kiss ever. Well between us because I didn't have any other kisses to share it with. Anyway, all I could wonder if we would share a kiss like that again any time soon. Instead of trying to return to my book I place it on my bedside cabinet and layed down on my pillow, let thoughts of Nick fill my mind. Soon I drifted of to sleep with a smile on my face.
