Home Sweet Home...
"Here we are." Grace said as she removed her keys from her pocket and unlocked the front door of her house. As soon as they stepped in they realized everything looked perfectly fine, although the house was empty. "Mom? Dad?" Grace shouted out but it was obvious that there was no one home to answer her calling. "I think we should take a look inside." Aiden implied. "Figures... They haven't come back from their trip yet..." She said in a low voice. "They were on a trip? Where to?" He asked looking curious and confused. "New York..." The blonde haired girl replied. "Hey look at the houses' phone. They may have sent you a recorder message." Aiden proposed pointing at Grace's home phone which had a red light blinking on and off. "Good call." Grace said approaching it. "You're right!" She said pushing the button with a speaker on it. "Grace!? Honey! I pray to God that you are doing fine right now! I heard what was going on back home and unfortunately the same things have been happening here! We are so worried about you please stay safe! We will find you we promise so please stay out of trouble! Never forget that we love you!" Grace mother's voice message was heard from the phone. "Mom... Dad... Please be safe..." She spelled out looking down at the phone. "Grace..." Aiden said in a low voice touching her hand. "First Kyle... Then Ava... Then my parents are in trouble... Why is all of this happening to us...? Today was supposed to be a normal day like any other!" Grace said as she started crying. Aiden looked her in the eye and hugged her tight. "I JUST WANT TO SEE MY PARENTS! I JUST WANT TO SEE MOM AND DAD! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD?! WHY ARE THE DEAD COMING BACK TO LIFE JUST TO KILL?! WHY..." She shouted and cried as her voice's volume had risen. "I know that this is too much for you Grace... But we will find your parents... And I promise you I won't leave your side... I'll be here with you... You're not alone. I'm here for you." Aiden said tightening his grip around her. "Thank you Aiden... Thank you..." Grace spelled out wetting Aiden's shirt with tears. "So I need you to be strong for me, okay?" He implied looking her in the eyes. She nodded affirmatively and when she was done gathering her resources they left. She took a bag with edibles and warm clothes with her and changed her clothes as well. She wore a red hoodie and a black pair of jeans along with some red trainers.
"Next stop, Campbell residence." Aiden said trying to light up the mood once again. "We're so lucky that we live next to each other." Grace said. "Say that again!" He said removing his keys from pockets due to the short distance between their houses. He unlocked the door and they stepped in. "MOM? DAD? ISABELLA? Is anyone home?" The black haired boy called out to his family. "No one here I suppose... I hope they're safe..." He said as he entered the living room. "Here Aiden, a note." Grace said as she handed it over to him. "That's my mother's handwriting." He said looking down at the letter. "Aiden, me and your sister are fleeing the city with our street car. Since you where nowhere to be found your father will be waiting for you in the garage. Take the Jeep and leave the city immediately. He knows where you should head to. Please be safe. Both of you. We love you honey. You and your father are fighters and we believe in you." The letter wrote. "The garage!" Aiden shouted when both of the teenagers finished reading the letter simultaneously. Aiden and Grace opened the back door that led to the back yard of the house and went made their way towards the garage. "What the hell?!!" Aiden exclaimed while coming face to face with the opened garage door. As they walked closer to the scene, he came face to face with a man lying on the ground on top of a blanket. He had short black hair and a goatee. Blood was running down his stomach and he looked completely lifeless. "Dad...? No... What the fuck happened here?!" Aiden said in disbelief. "Aiden..." Grace spelled out. Aiden kneeled in front of his father's body and noticed a small piece of paper on his jacket. He unfolded it and looked into it with watery eyes. “I love you son. Stay safe." Is what it wrote.
