The Conclusion To A Mad Day
"Everybody off!" William said opening the door of his truck. "Grace wake up we're here." Aiden said shaking her body. "Mhhhmm... Where?" She asked. "The farm William mentioned. Now come on." He said pulling her outside from her arm. "Oh now I remember." Grace said rubbing her eyes. "This is my house guys!" William said. "It looks cozy..." The blonde girl said yawning. "William, you're back. I see you've brought some guests here with you." An old man with short white hair and beard wearing green work clothes said looking at Aiden and Grace. "Yeah they helped me get out of a tough situation so I couldn't just leave them there!" William explained. "Well it's fine but you'll have to stay in the barn for the night cause we've got more guests sleeping inside." The old man said. "What guests dad?" William asked. "They're a family. A man, a woman and a kid." William's dad replied. "My name is Damian, Damian Hershell." He continued introducing himself to the teenagers. "I'm Aiden and she's Grace." Aiden stepped up and said. "You should let the girl talk for herself mister." Mister Hershell said. "She just woke up and seems to be a little out of it." The black haired boy said looking at his friend which seemed lost in thought. "Okay then, why don't you come inside so I can give you pillows and blankets so you can head to the barn?" The old man said. "I'll come with you." William said following his dad. "Hey Grace... Are you alright?" Aiden asked. "Yeah just a little sleepy... So many things have happened today... I just can't seem to get the hang of it all." Grace replied. "I can relate... We are a two-hour drive away from our homes running from corpses that want to eat us. Magnificent." He said being sarcastic. "I just hope things can go back to how they were..." She spelled out. "I hope so too Grace." Aiden said sighing. "But I highly doubt it." He thought to himself. "Why not dad?! Don't you feel safer?" William said as he opened the outside door and exited his house. "Things like that don't happen here son." Mister Hershell said. "What's the matter?" Aiden asked William. "My father refuses to help me build a fence around our farm in case these things come this way!" He explained. "You can build whatever fence you want. But I'm not gonna waste my stamina for something that won't help." The old man explained. "I'll help you, if you don't mind." Aiden said interrupting their conversation. "Really? You'll do that?" William asked looking relieved. "Yeah, I mean you brought as all the way here I can't help but lend you a hand on building a fence for your property." The blue eyed boy explained. "You're great man! See you in the morning!" William said happily handing over the stuff they needed to sleep. "Well into the barn we go princess." Aiden said to Grace.
As soon as they set down their blankets and pillows Grace and Aiden lied down next to each other in the middle of the barn. "Hey, Aiden." Grace said looking at the ceiling. "Do you think that we'll be alright?" She continued. "Of course it's just a barn!" Aiden said laughing. "Not about the barn you moron! I mean about this whole zombie situation..." The blonde girl explained. "I'm sure everything will work out. And if it doesn't, then that's why I'm here. I told you I'm not gonna leave you. We'll pull through this together." The black haired boy said reassuringly. "Thank you Aiden..." She said smiling. "You know... Despite the whole zombie thing... I'm glad I got to be with you of all the people..." Aiden said. "I'm glad I got to be with you too... Moron." Grace said. "What's up with the moron part?" Aiden said irritated. "It's nothing. Goodnight." She said with a sweet voice. "Goodnight." He replied.
