The End Of A Storm

Two months after the newly assembled group made the school it’s base, due to the great number of resources it held, Aiden and Grace had made their relationship official, Emily grew quite close to the two teenagers and to Danny, who she always played with since there weren’t any other kids around. But the school’s resources couldn’t keep them going forever so they had to scavenge around every day to see if they could find anything useful. Given that the school was just outside a small forest, getting food might turn to be easier than any of them had expected.

It was 3rd of November 2018, winter was coming and the fall was about to die out, which meant that warmer innerwear and jackets would be needed. Luckily the group found some old clothes stuffed in a room back at the school so everyone was already covered, given that they wouldn’t move because if they did they would need warmer clothes. Aiden was walking down an old dirt path wearing a light blue denim jacket with a faux shearling and a black pair of skinny fit jeans alongside some beige timberland boots. He was holding a rifle with both of his hands, having his right palm grabbing the forestock of the gun and his left one on the trigger guard. The magnum he had found two months was still at his disposal, hanging from a holster on his left thigh. At the end of his spine, a pair of machete were sheathed inside their cases which were hanging from his torso as their straps were tied around from the back of his spine all the way up to his back and down at the front of his belt.  His hair was slightly misplaced due to the slight wind, but after two long months it looked completely fine even though the sides which were shaved, had grew back. But his left fringe and slight back slick were still there giving form to it. Walking up behind him was David, who was wearing a brown plain jacket and some light blue loose jeans alongside some black high boots. He was wearing the usual hat and his beard looked much thicker than it was two months ago. The grown man was wielding a rifle just like Aiden and had the exact same grip over time. From his right thigh a brown holster with a 9mm pistol inside it. “Man it’s so shitty going out in the wilds for nothing…” The bearded man expressed his dissatisfaction with a sigh. “Well we don’t know that for sure Dave, besides I don’t think that we would have anything better to do back in the school…” Aiden pointed out. “Well we could have found a way to spend our time happily than run around a forest just because the mighty leader Linda says so!” The grown man replied. “Well I can’t argue with that… But why did we do make her leader anyway?” The teenager asked. “We made her the leader?! She forced it on us! With that usual self-eccentric personality and her big ass ego…” He replied as the two men continued walking. “I actually remember that to be honest, but I don’t think that we should bad-mouth our leader like that.” The young man implied. “But you’re the one who started it man!” David said slightly laughing. “Very mature!” Aiden said laughing back. All of a sudden, the scream of a human desperately crying for help broke the silence that filled the woods. “What was that?!” David stepped up and said. “Someone might need our help!” Aiden  declared as he jumped off his position and swiftly picked up the pace.

Seconds after the scream the two men reached the source of the loud sound and crouched in front of some bushes, with their rifles ready. As they closely inspected the perimeter they noticed figures moving from afar, in the deep forest. “B e ready to shoot boy. Remember what I’ve taught you?” David implied as he reminded they young man who taught him how to use the weapon he was holding. “Of course I do.” Aiden answered having his eyes fixated on the possible targets. Suddenly, with terrorizing screams two boys jumped off the bushes holding a man who had blood all over his stomach. Behind them, humanity’s number 1 predator followed, walkers. A large amount of them to be more precise. “We’ve got to help them!” Aiden gave voice to his desire. “You're right... Let's go!” David said jumping off his cover shooting a walker to the head. Aiden followed and with the same movement he shot one of the ones close to the two teenagers down. “What’s wrong with him?!” The grown man with the beard said as he rushed closer to the two teenagers protecting from the walkers. “He was stabbed!” The long haired teenager spelled out. “That’s… bad.” Aiden said as he continued shooting and walking towards them. “But he’s not dead! I assure you! He just needs some help!” The one with the shorter hair implied. “No bites?!” David went on with the questioning as his index finger wouldn’t part from the trigger. “No bites we swear!” The one with long hair shouted. “Okay we’ll take you back with us! But first we need to clear a path!” The young man with the blazing blue eyes announced. “What’s the plan Dave?!” He continued. “Nine Blinded, Six Regulars and no Runners…” The man muttered. “I’ll take the right with my rifle and you clear out the left with your machete!”  He quickly announced the plan. “Got it!” Aiden said as he sliced one of Regular’s head and quickly stabbed on from underneath his chin crashing his brain afterwards. Meanwhile David was being the sharp-shooter as he cleared out half of the hiss right side, all with clean shots through the head.  “Clear to go! Grab the man and let’s go!” David implied seconds after. “ON IT!” Aiden answered running back to the two teenagers. As soon as Aiden had picked up the man on his shoulders David shouted “Run for it kids!” and the four of them started running down the beaten track. But before the teenager with the long black hair could start doing so a walker jumped off the bushes and fell on top of him, sinking his yellow rotten teeth to his neck’s flesh. “BENN!!”  The other one shouted watching the terrible sight of his friend losing all hope.  “ΗE WON’T MAKE IT WE HAVE TO GO!” David shouted grabbing his arm forcing him to run along with him
